Job Description

The Network Designer at Disney Live Entertainment is responsible for deploying and configuring general-purpose computers, KVM systems, and temporary network switches. Responsibilities include asset tracking, documenting processes, assisting with data center tasks (cabling, racking), maintaining firewalls, resolving network issues, optimizing security tools, and serving as a technical liaison. The role requires strong knowledge of network security, architectures, protocols, and experience with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS). The candidate will work both independently and as part of a team, communicating technical details effectively to non-technical audiences. Occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work is expected.

You will report to the Manager of Show Control Design.

This is a Full Time Role.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for the deployment of all general-purpose computers (GPC’s), regardless of operating system, from box to rack as well as ensuring the accurate configuration and stability of the systems.
  • Ensure that the network-based keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) system, is deployed and configured properly as well as dealing with user issues.
  • Assist in tagging and entering all Disney Live Entertainment Assets into Asset Tracking and Management database.
  • When necessary, this role will assist or take lead on deploying temporary network switches.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Document currently in place processes and procedures as well as validating workflows created by the services role.
  • Assist with data center tasks such as cabling and racking of equipment.
  • Conduct day-to-day maintenance and administration of host and network firewall solutions
  • Assist in identifying root causes of operational issues, resolves problems and/or recommends short term and long-term mitigation of issues
  • Optimize security tool deployments and introduce scalable processes across cyber security capabilities
  • Serve as technical liaison to help inform and guide upper management and partner organizations (namely Design & Engineering Global Engineering & Technology and Disney Enterprise Technology groups)

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical role in support of designing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Network Security solutions
  • Practical experience with Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems (current supported and future versions), Industrial Control Systems, Networks, and Protocols, Industrial routers/switches/firewalls
  • Cyber security monitoring, logging, and patching
  • Ability to work individually with minimal direction and as an integral part of a team
  • Proficient in all forms of communication—especially when conveying technical details to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to efficiently resolve network issues with varying degrees of complexity
  • Strong knowledge of firewall technologies, network architectures, and network protocols
  • Knowledgeable in network security procedures, best practices, and implementation of network documentation and diagramming
  • Able to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings. This includes occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays

Education

BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related engineering field or equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $97,600-$126,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
