Job Description

As a Network Implementation Engineer at Google, you'll be the initial point of execution for deploying, maintaining, and operating private data networks globally. You'll collaborate with various teams (Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, etc.) and external vendors to ensure efficient and reliable network operations. Responsibilities include driving automation solutions, optimizing deployment cycle times, addressing issues proactively, maintaining accurate network data, and collaborating on process improvements to reduce operational costs. You'll be crucial in building a highly scalable and reliable network supporting Google's global customer base, directly impacting the company's ability to deliver network capacity. This role requires strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, along with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in Dense Wave-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
  • Experience in telecommunications at carrier class scale and with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers and data services.
  • Experience with fiber types and their application, physical fiber characteristics, and standard testing tools (e.g., OSA, BERT, OTDR).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and implementing automation solutions for network deployment or similar processes.
  • Experience with process improvement or process engineering methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Experience in telecommunications, with knowledge of network infrastructure, optical transport systems, routers, third-party leased network assets and installation vendors.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, lead technical projects, prioritize and manage project timelines.
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-motivated selection-making.

You will work with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position your team and organization for success.

The Network Delivery Implementation team builds and operates the future of Google's global network, connecting billions of users to our expanding services and enabling the world's imagination with dependable, universal connectivity. We own the full network life-cycle in our data centers and metro points of presence, driving continuous reliability, efficiency, and rapid service activation to meet the ever-growing demands of a connected world, with the goal to make connectivity between every machine and every user on the Internet.

In this role, you will be a key contributor as a member of the Global Network Delivery team, directly impacting Google's ability to deliver network capacity to its customers.
