GoDaddy is looking for a Principal Ceph Engineer to join the Global Storage Engineering team. The role involves engineering and deploying storage technologies for internal applications and private cloud, specifically focusing on Ceph for object, block, and file workloads. The engineer will participate in agile methodologies, work with internal teams, and deliver custom solutions based on GoDaddy product needs. The job requires expertise in Ceph storage deployment, configuration, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and integration. The engineer will also need to have strong analytical and problem-solving skills in distributed environments.
Must have:
  • 8+ years in site reliability engineering with Ceph expertise.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with OpenStack deployment and management.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix and automation tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Agile experience working in Scrum/Kanban teams.
Good to have:
  • Experience with other distributed storage systems.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and their storage services.

Job Details

Location – US Remote

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time; others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.​

This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings. 

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.  

GoDaddy is not currently considering candidates for this role in California, Seattle, or NYC.

We are looking for engineers to join the Global Storage Engineering team with a strong focus on Ceph. In this role, you would be engineering and deploying the latest storage technologies to enable object, block, and file workloads for our internal applications and private cloud. If you have strong dev/ops skills, love to solve complex and challenging problems, and want to participate in some of the most exciting open-source projects, we want to hear from you!

What you'll get to do...

Help GoDaddy engineer, deploy, and maintain the next generation of storage technologies to support our applications and private cloud.

Participate in agile concepts such as daily stand-up meetings, task tracking boards, design and code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment.

Work closely with internal teams on cross-functional projects to ensure that their assets are delivered quickly and with the highest quality'

Scope and model various workloads to deliver custom solutions based on GoDaddy product offering needs'

Your experience should include...

  • 8+ years in site reliability engineering with deep expertise in Ceph storage deployment, configuration, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, integration, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with OpenStack deployment, configuration, management, troubleshooting, optimization, and Ceph integration.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix, scripting, automation tools, observability stacks, and networking fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in distributed environments.
  • Agile experience working in Scrum/Kanban teams.

You may also have…

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with other distributed storage systems (e.g., GlusterFS, HDFS).
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their storage services.
