Job Description

The Product Design Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing system and hardware quality and risk management throughout the product lifecycle. This role involves ensuring appropriate quality plans, validating design inputs for various attributes like usability and safety, and providing oversight of plan execution. The engineer will also perform technical assessments, lead root cause analysis, and utilize post-market analytics to report on product quality performance and initiate field actions when necessary. The position requires 2+ years of design quality engineering experience, preferably in medical devices, and a scientific or engineering bachelor's degree.
Must have:
  • Oversight of system and hardware quality and risk management throughout product life cycle.

  • Validates key design inputs for usability, reliability, performance, safety, security, privacy, and costs.
  • Provides oversight of Quality Plan execution and risk management activities.
  • Performs independent technical assessment on product quality performance and post-market analysis.
  • Leads quality related problem solving and root cause analysis during design and manufacturing.
  • Creates and uses post-market analytics to report on product quality performance.
  • Initiates field actions when required.

Product Design Quality Engineer

In this role you

The Product Quality Engineer is accountable for oversight of system and hardware quality and risk management throughout the product life cycle.

Your role:

  • Ensures that appropriate quality plans are made that include all stages of the lifecycle of the product and supports Quality plan design
  • Validates key design inputs for usability, reliability, performance, supportability, manufacturability, localizability, safety, security, privacy, serviceability, sustainability and costs
  • Provides effective oversight of the execution of the Quality Plan, any Risk Management activities, and of all design related activities during the product/system lifecycle
  • Performs independent technical assessment on product quality performance and post-market product quality analysis. Can Lead quality related problem solving and root cause analysis during design and manufacturing
  • Creates and uses post-market analytics, statistics and deliverables to report on product quality performance in the field (provide feedback to manufacturing, suppliers or design teams) and initiates field actions when required

You're the right fit if:

  • 2+ years of Design Quality Engineering experience in a regulated environment, preferably within Medical Device.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, Engineering preferred or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in Assessing quality plans and product designs, reviewing test and other performance data, Analyses of market feedback, Leading root cause analysis and quality problem solving.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this Office/Remote position.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position in Bothell, WA is $82,650 to $140,000, Annually.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
