The Product Development Technician II provides technical support to engineers, performing rework and quality testing of parts and assemblies. The role involves developing and recommending procedures, preparing technical reports, and performing technical evaluations. Key responsibilities include designing and developing delivery systems, assembling and testing devices, maintaining records, training staff, and ensuring product quality. The job requires working in a controlled environment and following strict quality and safety procedures.
Must have:

  • Operate laboratory & manufacturing equipment

Good to have:
  • Braiding and lamination experience desirable
  • Balloon Catheter development or manufacturing experience desirable

Summary of the role

The Product Development Technician II provides technical support to engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies. Develops and recommends procedures and methods, and prepares technical reports and documentation. Performs technical evaluations of events to determine root cause; recommends corrective action.

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Design & develop delivery systems for client companies
  • Assemble, test & package complex mechanical devices following written & verbal instructions.
  • Work with Engineers to design & develop assembly methods
  • Maintain accurate work records such as engineering notebooks and routers
  • Train assemblers, technicians, & engineers in assembly methods
  • Maintain accurate inventory records
  • Assist with in-process testing to assure product meets specification
  • Operates computer, laboratory & manufacturing equipment to test & develop prototype products
  • Keep work areas clean and organized as per required procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining traceability of products.
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Follow all company rules and policies.
  • Follow all safety rules, Quality and ISO requirements.
  • Implement good working practices and procedures.
  • Assure that all products are built to the highest standard of quality.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Technical Diploma advantageous
  • Braiding and lamination experience desirable
  • Balloon Catheter development or manufacturing experience desirable

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills and organisation skills.
  • Able to interact with client companies in a professional manner
  • Able and willing to work in a controlled environment and cleanroom assembly area
  • Able to understand and follow mechanical assembly drawings
  • Able to understand and follow written instructions
  • Able to use assemble equipment such as a braider, laminator, spot welder (training will be provided)
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Attention to detail is a necessity, the ability to demonstrate sound judgement/rational.
  • Highly motivated and the ability to work within a team-based environment, flexibly and willing to learn.
