The Program Estimator produces several levels of construction project estimates, with a heavy concentration on conceptual estimating, to support facility project planning at Walt Disney World. You will participate in project development, database comparison with actual costs, and review of contractor schedule of values. You will guide the Change Management effort with the project team, including analysis of contractor detailed costs and finalizing negotiations for settlement.
You will report to the Business Manager-Controls
Produce rough order of magnitude, conceptual, design development, and bid and construct estimates of probable cost for facility modifications, renovations, and new construction.
Participate in design reviews and provide budget estimates.
Partner with the Integrated Facility Planning (IFP) Representative and Program Manager to estimate future year program. Identify areas for decisions.
Evaluate contractor proposals for changes in project work following contract requirements and fair market values.
Lead negotiations with professional consultants and contractors to settle costs for changes in work.
Stay ahead of market conditions, perform statistical analysis, and produce departmental reports as warranted.
Support project teams with scope development, bid requirements, schedule of values, and contractual language.
Build relationships with important team members and clients.
Mentor other Estimators.
Lead the development of operating guidelines, metrics, and standardization of estimating work.
Work with and influence executives.
6+ Years Experience in Engineering, Construction Management, or the commercial construction industry.
Experience in rough order of magnitude and cost estimating for general construction including some experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing.
Knowledge of contracting processes, negotiating, and legalities.
Knowledge of facility design and construction methods, construction activity sequencing, and schedule logic.
Project planning experience.
Experience using construction estimating software.
Experience in Facility Management.
Knowledge of current building codes.
