AFRY is seeking a Project Manager for complex energy infrastructure projects, primarily in Greenland, with a base in Denmark. The role involves leading and managing construction projects, including detailed planning, resource definition, monitoring compliance, reporting to clients and internal stakeholders, and managing project execution. The Project Manager will also be responsible for business development and sales in Greenland. Travel to Greenland is expected. The ideal candidate has a background in project management, experience with large-scale projects, and strong leadership and communication skills.
Must have:
  • Education in project management (certification is an advantage)
  • Documented experience leading large/complex projects
  • Experience with planning and managing time, costs, and resources
  • Experience managing external consultants and stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in internal and external project management
  • Strategic mindset and ability to oversee complex issues and make difficult decisions
  • Ability to build relationships, high personal credibility, and ability to foster collaboration
  • Strong negotiator, conflict resolver, and communicator, with the ability to set goals and direction
  • Fluent in Danish
  • English at negotiation level
Good to have:
  • Electrical engineering background
  • Experience from large construction projects in Greenland or similar Arctic/remote areas
  • Experience with development and project management of hydropower plants

About the tasks

As part of Projects & Project Management, you, as project manager, will manage and lead construction projects primarily in Greenland. Hereunder you are responsible for:

  • Preparation of detailed planning and preparation of projects
  • That the resource needs in the projects are defined and known to all involved project employees and managers
  • To monitor and control that the project work is at all times in accordance with the applicable design basis
  • Direct reporting to the customer and internal steering group as well as associated experts from AFRY around Europe
  • To manage and lead project execution.

It will also be your responsibility to handle and nurture customer contacts with a view to business development and sales, primarily in Greenland.

The projects are expected to be managed from Denmark, but travel activity to - and in - Greenland is expected.

Qualifications

Your educational background is not decisive, but if you have an electrical engineering background, it is an advantage. On the other hand, an education in project management is a requirement and eventual certification is an advantage.

We imagine that you will be a good fit for the job if you:

  • Have documented experience in leading large/complex projects, as well as experience in planning and managing time, costs and resources
  • Have experience in managing external consultants and stakeholders and extensive experience in internal and external project management
  • Have a strategic mindset and are able to oversee complex issues and make difficult decisions
  • Are good at building relationships, have high personal credibility and are able to make people collaborate
  • Are a strong negotiator, conflict resolver and communicator, and have the ability to set goals and direction for these.

It is also an advantage if you have experience from large construction projects in Greenland or similar Arctic or remote areas, but it is not decisive. Experience with the development and project management of hydropower plants is also desirable. You are fluent in Danish and can speak English at negotiation level.
