Job Description

The R&D engineer will collaborate with a team of developers and simulation experts to develop Framework modules for Ansys simulation software within multi-physics and large models configurations. They will be responsible for planning, implementing, realizing, and testing high-performance modules, services, and APIs for numerical simulation data processing across different physics/architecture environments. The engineer will engage in framework development activities while interacting with diverse teams. A strong understanding of physics simulation concepts, software best practices, Git, Linux, Windows, and continuous integration/testing is crucial. The code must be clean, readable, and well-documented.
Must have:
  • Develop and maintain software modules for numerical simulation.
  • Utilize and adhere to software best practices.
  • Perform bug verification and release testing.
  • Understand marketing requirements and performance criteria.
  • Strong C++ and Python programming skills.
  • Problem-solving oriented
Good to have:
  • Experience with Finite Element simulation.
  • Knowledge of CAD modeling.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn and collaborate in a team.

Summary / Role Purpose 

In this role, the R&D engineer will collaborate with a team of developers and simulation experts on the development of the Framework modules to facilitate the use of Ansys simulation software within multi-physics and large models configurations. The focus of this role is the planning, implementation, realization and testing of high performant modules, services and APIs involving numerical simulation data processing that can operate optimally in different physics/architecture environments. 

The R&D engineer will engage in a framework development activities while interacting with colleagues in very diverse teams across the company. An understanding of physics simulation concepts is crucial for effectively proposing solutions to challenges in simulation workflows. The R&D engineer is comfortable with software best-practices, Git, Linux, Windows, continuous integration and continuous testing. The code is clean, readable and well documented. 

  

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Performs development/coding activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules, services and sub-systems in the area of numerical simulation. 
  • Understands and employs best practices 
  • Performs bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions 
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues 
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager 

  

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience 

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years’ experience, MS with 2/3 years’ experience, or PhD.   
  • Working experience in technical software development via academic, research or industry experience 
  • Good understanding and skills in C++ and python programming 
  • Problem solving oriented 
  • Understanding of physics (mechanics, electronics or fluid mechanics) 

  

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  • Technical knowledge and experience with Finite Element simulation, CAD modeling 
  • Passion for crafting robust and efficient code 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
