The automotive industry is currently undergoing a major transformation. Amidst the SDV (Software-Defined Vehicle) trend, leveraging the strengths of both software and hardware, such as autonomous driving and AI-powered assistant agents, to enhance vehicle value and competitiveness is crucial for future survival.
Our department, part of the Research & Development division, is advancing the technological development that will be the source of competitiveness for future automobiles.
In autonomous driving, an approach focusing on self-supervised learning AI models, known as E2E, is emerging. Furthermore, the innovation in user interfaces based on dialogue, exemplified by recent generative AI and agent AI, is becoming a significant element in automobiles.
In this research, the flow of AI model examination, data collection, training, evaluation, and model improvement is indispensable, and we are building this entire process from the ground up.
In this position, a wide range of development activities, from the underlying infrastructure for AI model construction to actual AI model implementation, are shared within the group. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for building cutting-edge AI by utilizing data unique to automobiles.
The development content broadly consists of two areas: AI development for E2E autonomous driving and AI development for in-vehicle conversational agents.
In both areas, we determine approaches by referencing the latest AI papers and open-source software, and then build AI models, collect data, train, and evaluate them to refine the models.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for data pipeline construction, data engineering, AI model development, and accelerated learning through simulation.
(The specific responsibilities will be determined based on your experience and skills.)
Although a relatively compact team, many members possess extensive AI knowledge and experience, making it one of the most recognized and watched teams within the company. It is also a team with strong proposal capabilities and agility, unconstrained by conventional wisdom, fostering a culture that enjoys lively technical discussions. Depending on the task, work can be done remotely, in project rooms equipped with on-premise servers (Yokohama), or at development bases where vehicle prototyping and experiments can be conducted (Atsugi), offering flexible working styles. Especially recently, as we are working on E2E methods and generative AI (multimodal), we engage in daily discussions, referencing papers, etc. It's a workplace where opinions from young to senior members are openly shared, and everyone is enthusiastic about creating new things. We actively engage in paper submissions, striving to showcase the world's most advanced AI technology globally as one of our goals.
Since your role involves applying the latest AI technology with cutting-edge methods, you will constantly be exposed to the world's forefront, contributing to the realization of autonomous driving and conversational agents in ways not yet seen. You will have the exciting experience of seeing your AI models installed in actual vehicles and operating in the real world.
Furthermore, you will gain access to internal vehicle sensor data and control signals that are not usually accessible, becoming a pioneer in the evolution of next-generation AI (embodied AI) that moves vehicles with AI.
You will have a global network, interacting with researchers overseas, allowing you to encounter diverse perspectives and enhance your skills.
After joining, you can aim for a management position through team leadership and project management, or pursue an expert role as an AI specialist. If desired, you can also shift your focus to related technical areas such as mobility services, ecosystem building, or process innovation utilizing AI.
