Job Description

Guy Carpenter is seeking a Reinsurance Actuary for its South East Asia and Korea Actuarial Advisory team in Seoul. This hybrid role involves providing actuarial and financial modeling services, analyzing reinsurance alternatives, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and leading client discussions. The actuary will also train and mentor junior colleagues, collaborate with broking teams, and develop complex models to optimize reinsurance placement and support growth.
Must have:
  • Provide actuarial and financial modelling services to clients and colleagues
  • Analyse how the distribution of results and relevant risk measures changes as a result of applications on various proposed reinsurance alternatives
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis to recommend reinsurance programs based on various metrics
  • Lead the discussion with clients and colleagues regarding reinsurance options and recommendations
  • Respond to client queries and concerns, resolving issues promptly
  • Provide technical training for clients and colleagues
  • Mentor and peer-review junior colleagues
  • Serve as a strategic partner to brokers and clients helping to find the solutions to mitigate risk
  • Collaborate with the actuarial and broking teams to ensure client needs are met and analytics resources are used effectively
  • Develop complex models and pricing strategies across a wide range of risk exposures
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related quantitative field such as Mathematics or Statistics
  • 7+ years working experience in insurance or reinsurance
  • Proficient in English and Korean, both verbally and written
  • FCAS, FIA or FIAA
  • Strong ability to manage workflows effectively through efficient time management
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communications, presentations and project management skills
Good to have:
  • Experience in a technical related role at a reinsurance broker, reinsurer, or catastrophe model software vendor
  • Coding experience in programming languages (i.e. Alteryx, R, Python, VBA , SQL)

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Reinsurance Actuary South East Asia and Korea at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in the Seoul. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Guy Carpenter’s South East Asia and Korea Actuarial Advisory team helps our clients deliver on growth and manage changing risk strategies in an ever-changing economic environment.  Working with Broking, Strategic Advisory, Peril Advisory, Ratings Advisory, and CAT Advisory, we provide our clients solutions to optimize reinsurance placement, increasing capital efficiency and support new growth opportunities.  We act as both an advisor and an advocate for our clients and support them in a myriad of ways.

This opportunity is ideal for a suitable candidate to apply their analytics knowledge and project management skills to a number of high-profile clients while developing their consulting and leadership abilities. Our team is seeking candidates for the following position located in Korea office.
