Job Summary:
The Repair Technician performs a variety of tasks depending on current operational needs. These tasks include, but are not limited to, conducting all aspects of technical work in the repair center, preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and the repair of all issued man worn and vehicle equipment of the Weapon Effects System (WES) equipment. Operating a computer to maintain inventory, records and schedules. Use of technical manuals, drawings, schematics and handbooks.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains technical service and production of onsite manuals and documentation.
- Maintains files and records to document and support the maintenance effort.
- Proficient with the use of Quad Loader, spectrum analyzers and other test equipment.
- Maintains records of all maintenance activities in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Assists in ensuring that all annual inspections are conducted.
- Responsible for appraising supervisor and/or lead, regarding equipment status and any on-going logistics efforts.
- Oversees the performance of hardware maintenance of all TES man worn and vehicle assemblies and associated peripherals.
- Executes the analysis of technical problems to determine the locations and density of circuitry, isolating malfunctions and incorporating engineering changes.
- Executes the set up and operation of electronic test equipment to perform functional, operational and environmental tests to evaluate performance of components, subassemblies, and assemblies.
- Executes the analysis of equipment malfunctions and utilizes various maintenance and repair manuals, test equipment, wiring diagrams, schematics, electronics devices and electrical equipment and verbal instructions to re-work, repair, and test, troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
- Executes the analysis and interpretation of test data to determine if within appropriate specifications.
- Maintain a knowledge base of the fundamentals of the Weapons Effects System and how the TES equipment feeds the wider CATs application.
- Executes comprehensive preventative and corrective maintenance program.
- Understand and be able to manipulate and interrogate the WES software system.
- Acts as a Field Service Representative during exercises as required.
- Troubleshoots, maintains and conducts equipment exchanges on hardware in the field.
- Delivers technical WES equipment lessons and demonstrations in the field to the customer.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High School Degree with 2-4 years experience.
- Must have the mechanical ability to carry out repairs of equipment.
- Work requires familiarity with the interrelationship of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and test equipment.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Physical ability to walk, stand and/or sit for extended periods of time, and to climb stairs is required.
- Requires the ability to lift 75 pounds.
- Requires bending, reaching, and fitting into tight places to perform normal duties.
- Available to travel nationally on a regular basis during military training periods as well as possibility of international travel.
- Bi-lingual capability preferred (Eng/Fr). Requires proof of the right to work in Canada.
- Requires a probationary period of 3 months.
- Requires a security background check made by the Canadian Authorities.
