Job Description

Spliced Inc. is seeking a Senior Animation Engineer to work on an innovative and unique project, developing and maintaining animation technology within Unreal to deliver a high-quality online gameplay experience. Key responsibilities include working on Unreal's Motion Matching system, optimizing and maintaining core animation-based systems, integrating middleware technologies, and collaborating with the animation teams. The role requires a strong understanding of animation systems, engine architectures, and optimization strategies. The candidate will work closely with the team, using tools such as Slack and code reviews, to help realize the team's vision. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a passionate team and contribute to creating a world-class gaming experience.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience with using Motion Matching in any game engine.
  • Experience shipping AAA console games.
  • Deep knowledge of engine and hardware architectures.
  • Knowledge of animation systems for 3D AAA games.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer science degree.

We are Spliced Inc. and we’re looking for a Senior Animation Engineer.

The Role 

Fantastic opportunity to be a part of an innovative unique project, working alongside an incredibly talented and passionate team on an original IP to create a world class online gameplay experience that will surprise and excite players. You will play a critical role in developing and maintaining the animation technology within Unreal, tailoring and optimizing it to deliver the highest quality game to our players.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Working on Unreal’s Motion Matching system
  • Work with the rest of the team to gameplay mechanics that are exemplary in the field of AAA gaming
  • Optimise and maintain the memory, performance, and other core animation based systems for a large AAA game
  • Evaluate, Integrate and maintain middleware technologies and externally developed engine systems and engine updates
  • Working very closely with the animation teams to ensure their vision is made a reality in the project
  • Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with other members of the engineering team using Slack, code reviews, design reviews, bugs, and video calls.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, working on multi-discipline teams
  • 5+ years of working with memory, performance, and other low level systems OR 2+ years of Unreal 4+ experience on core systems
  • Experience with using Motion Matching in any game engine
  • Experience shipping AAA console games (Xbox One+, Playstation 4+)
  • Deep knowledge of engine and hardware architectures, optimization strategies, profiling tools and multi-threaded programming
  • Knowledge of animation systems for 3D AAA games and how to use them
  • Strong interpersonal skills: the abilities to communicate positively and effectively, and to take constructive feedback. Self-motivated, can-do attitude, quick learner and problem solver
  • Passionate about core game mechanics and facilitating efficient team workflows
  • Computer science degree.
