Job Description

The Cloud Management team within Autodesk's Enterprise IT organization is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer - GCP. This role is crucial for defining, provisioning, and managing enterprise public clouds on Google Cloud Platform to enhance developer productivity. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and automate a secure GCP landing zone, migrate applications, and optimize costs. Responsibilities include developing IaC with Terraform, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring robust monitoring and security. The role requires strong cloud computing knowledge, experience in application migration, and excellent communication skills to foster a collaborative engineering culture.
Must have:
  • Design, implement, and automate a robust, scalable, and secure GCP landing zone.
  • Migrate diverse applications to the new GCP landing zone.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications to GCP.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for GCP.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues within the GCP environment.
  • Significant hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with DevOps methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in migrating applications and infrastructure.
  • Proficient with IaC tools such as Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) and experience with a programming language (e.g., Go, Python).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Cloud Build.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (GKE preferred).
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts in GCP.
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices, IAM, and data encryption.
  • 5+ years of DevOps experience in Google Cloud.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
Good to have:
  • GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with other cloud platforms like AWS and Azure are added advantage.

Position Overview

We're growing our Cloud Management team within Autodesk's Enterprise IT organization. This team is responsible for defining, provisioning, and managing enterprise public clouds that help enable developer productivity. The team is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer - GCP who will have a critical role in how we define and manage our public cloud on Google Cloud Platform.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cloud computing and technology systems and experience designing and migrating applications to the cloud. You should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to share your thoughts and knowledge effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and automate a robust, scalable, and secure GCP landing zone from the ground up, incorporating best practices for networking, security, identity, and resource management
  • Migrate diverse applications to the new GCP landing zone, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity
  • Identify and implement cost optimization strategies, performance enhancements, and operational efficiencies within our GCP environment
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager to automate the provisioning and management of GCP resources
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications to GCP, ensuring fast, reliable, and automated releases
  • Work closely with our existing Cloud Management team to build GCP knowledge, provide guidance, and foster a collaborative learning environment
  • Partner with the Security team to implement and enforce security best practices, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry standards within GCP
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for GCP infrastructure and applications to ensure high availability and performance
  • Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues within the GCP environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Significant hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing solutions on Google Cloud Platform. GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer) are highly desirable
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD, automation, infrastructure as code, and site reliability engineering (SRE) principles
  • Demonstrated experience in migrating applications and infrastructure between cloud providers or from on-premises to cloud
  • Proficient with IaC tools such as Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager for managing GCP resources
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) and experience with at least one programming language commonly used in DevOps (e.g., Go, Python)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Cloud Build, or similar
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (GKE preferred)
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, VPNs, Load Balancers, DNS) in GCP
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), and data encryption
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • 5+ years of DevOps experience in Google Cloud
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT or related field
  • Experience with other cloud platforms like AWS and Azure are added advantage
