Autodesk is seeking a Senior Director to lead the Cloud Infrastructure & Platforms Engineering (CIPE) team within the Enterprise Systems & Experience (ESE) division. The role involves ensuring the operational health, security, and seamless integration of cloud infrastructure, on-premises data centers, and core platform services that support enterprise and commercial business processes. The Senior Director will define strategic direction, focusing on advancing cloud maturity and financial efficiency. This position oversees services used globally by Autodesk workers and customers, with operational excellence and invisible infrastructure being key success metrics. Responsibilities include developing strategic plans, leading and scaling a high-performing engineering team, partnering with senior leaders, overseeing cloud infrastructure design and management, managing platform services, vendor relationships, ensuring compliance, driving innovation, and overseeing incident/problem management.
Must have:
  • Proficiency in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Expertise in automation and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
  • Proficiency in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and compliance
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and virtualization
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
  • Knowledge of database management and data services

Position Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Director to lead the critical Cloud Infrastructure & Platforms Engineering (CIPE) team within the Enterprise Systems & Experience (ESE) division of Autodesk. Your mission is to ensure the cloud infrastructure, on-premises data centers, and core platform services that underpin enterprise and commercial business processes are operationally healthy, trusted, secure, and seamlessly integrated. You will define and drive the strategic direction for these foundational technologies, with a key focus on advancing our cloud maturity and financial efficiency. This high-impact role oversees services consumed daily by Autodesk workers and customers globally, making operational excellence and invisible infrastructure key measures of success. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for cloud infrastructure and platform services, aligning with the overall business objectives. Ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions  

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team of cloud infrastructure and platform engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Provide guidance and support for career development and training  

  • Partner with senior leaders across Autodesk to develop cohesive technology strategies, ensure alignment, and maximize impact in overlapping functional areas 

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. Implement best practices for cloud infrastructure management and maintenance  

  • Manage the development and maintenance of platform services that support various business applications. Ensure the platforms are scalable, secure, and efficient  

  • Manage relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality cloud infrastructure and platform services. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and meet their infrastructure needs  

  • Ensure cloud infrastructure and platform services comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect cloud assets and information  

  • Drive innovation and optimization initiatives to improve the efficiency and performance of cloud infrastructure and platform services. Explore and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance capabilities  

  • Oversee the incident and problem management processes, ensuring timely resolution of issues and minimizing impact on business operations. Implement proactive measures to prevent future incidents  

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency in major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. Experience with core services like computing (e.g., AWS EC2), storage (e.g., Azure Blob Storage), and databases

  • Expertise in automation and IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation. Ability to automate the delivery and management of cloud infrastructure 

  • Proficiency in containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. Experience in deploying and managing containerized applications  

  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and compliance standards. Experience with implementing security measures and ensuring regulatory compliance 

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and virtualization technologies. Experience with configuring and managing virtual networks and environments 

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps for continuous integration and deployment 

  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Go, and Bash. Ability to develop automation scripts and tools 

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack. Ability to set up and manage monitoring solutions for cloud infrastructure 

  • Knowledge of database management and data services. Experience with managing cloud-based databases and data storage solutions

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $210,800 and $341,000. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
