As a Senior Engineering Manager for Sports Search at Google, you'll lead a team building full-stack search technologies and distinctive features using Google's advancements. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership, managing a large product budget, overseeing international deployments, and evolving the team's image with a balanced portfolio of investments. You will focus on creating products that allow users to easily find sports information and content on Google Search. The role demands expertise in managing engineers across multiple teams and locations, contributing to product strategy, and developing your team. You'll be involved in various aspects of search technology, including information retrieval and large-scale system design, while working with a global team to impact billions of users.
Must have:
  • 8+ years software development experience (Python, C++, Java, JavaScript)
  • 5+ years technical leadership and people management
  • Build full-stack search technologies
  • Manage large-scale projects internationally
  • Lead and develop engineering teams
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS or related field
  • Experience in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Machine Learning experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience in Machine Learning (ML).
