The Branded Mobile App team at Toast is responsible for delivering high-quality, customizable mobile apps for thousands of restaurant partners and their guests. These apps power everyday ordering and guest engagement for millions of users. We’re passionate about scalability, reliability, and speed of delivery. About this roll\* (Responsibilities)

In this role, your north star will be improving and maintaining the success, build, and release quality of Toast’s Branded Apps. You’ll be working at the intersection of mobile development, CI/CD systems, and backend engineering, ensuring we can scale to thousands of individual builds across our growing customer base.

At the same time, this is a full stack role with plenty of hands-on opportunities across the product: from React and React Native on the frontend, to Kotlin and GraphQL on the backend. You’ll be deeply involved in both infrastructure and product development, helping shape the future of Toast’s mobile ecosystem.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Architect, build, and maintain systems that power the automated build and release pipelines for iOS and Android apps.
• Own the infrastructure that supports thousands of customer-branded builds, ensuring reliability, scalability, and speed.
• Improve developer productivity by enhancing build systems, tooling, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
• Work hands-on in the product stack, contributing to React, React Native, Kotlin, and GraphQL layers as part of feature delivery.
• Partner with Mobile, Backend, and Product teams to ensure smooth, high-quality releases across multiple app versions.
• Monitor and improve build performance, quality metrics, and release success rates.
• Collaborate with engineers across Toast to deliver scalable solutions that support rapid growth and increased customer demand.

Do you have the right ingredients\*? (Requirements)

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with a mix of backend systems and full stack product development.
• Strong experience with build tools and CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Fastlane, Gradle, Xcode build tools).
• Familiarity with mobile app development (iOS and/or Android) and app store distribution processes.
• Experience with frontend frameworks (React, React Native) and backend layers (Kotlin, GraphQL, Node.js).
• Experience building and maintaining large-scale, multi-tenant systems.
• Comfortable working with AWS, Docker, and other cloud-based infrastructure.
• Strong collaboration skills and comfort working across mobile, backend, and frontend teams.
• A passion for automation, developer productivity, and release quality, balanced with curiosity to contribute directly to user-facing product features.
