Job Description

The Senior Platform Engineer applies business requirements and software development lifecycle knowledge to design, produce, and guide complex software solutions. This role involves demonstrating significant knowledge in one or multiple technologies, producing clean and efficient code, and reviewing others' work. The engineer manages their workload, promotes an inclusive culture, and acts as a subject matter expert in their domain, understanding tech strategy and its impact on teams. They oversee design work, support solution creation for Epics, and adapt existing patterns to develop robust solutions, building strong relationships with stakeholders.
Must have:
  • Demonstrates significant knowledge of a single or multiple technologies
  • Advises on design, development and implementation
  • Advances tools and applications by producing clean and efficient code
  • Reviews others' code when required
  • Handles own workload
  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge and expertise in software development
  • Understands the tech strategy and culture
  • Oversees the design work and planning for user journeys
  • Supports the creation of solutions for Epics and associated implementation tasks
  • Adapts existing patterns to develop robust solutions
  • Completes the delivery of given tasks with some guidance and oversight
  • Professional qualification or equivalent
  • Significant knowledge of at least one programming language
  • Moderate experience in a Software development and delivery role
  • Moderate experience of multiple development technologies
  • Knowledge of when patterns are appropriate and solutions are anti-patterns

Job Details

Applies business requirements and knowledge of software development lifecycles to design, produce and guide the development of complex software solutions. Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrates significant knowledge of a single or multiple technologies and advises on design, development and implementation
  • Advances tools and applications by producing clean and efficient code and reviews others' code when required
  • Handles own workload and promotes an inclusive and open culture
  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge and expertise in software development and is regarded as the SME in their domain. Develops knowledge of other domains to understand linkages and dependencies
  • Understands the tech strategy and culture, and how they impact own work as well as adjacent teams
  • Oversees the design work and planning for user journeys ensuring the achieve the desired objectives
  • Supports the creation of solutions for Epics and the associated implementation tasks
  • Adapts existing patterns to develop robust solutions
  • Develops understanding of LSEG's commercial direction and how technology is forming a part of this
  • Completes the delivery of given tasks with some guidance and oversight
  • Builds strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders, growing network and collaborating with own team and colleagues in other domains. Communicates complex information clearly to relevant audiences
  • Takes initiative to develop knowledge in technology products and tools through on the job learning, certifications and projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Professional qualification or equivalent
  • Significant knowledge of at least one programming language
  • Moderate experience in a Software development and delivery role
  • Moderate experience of multiple development technologies and knowledge of when patterns are appropriate and solutions are anti-patterns
  • Some experience of Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, delivery management, and / or Emerging Technology and Governance
  • Some stakeholder management experience.
