Senior Software Engineer - VALORANT, Live Design

Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work in a variety of broader domains. As a Software Engineer, you’ll be exposed to both new and current technology while building innovative solutions to overcome high-volume obstacles and deliver player value. VALORANT is Riot’s take on a character-based tactical shooter (for more info on VALORANT click here!). As a Senior Software Engineer working on VALORANT’s Core Game Features Team, you will collaborate across multiple disciplines such as game design, product, esports, QA, artists and engineering to build and maintain core gameplay features in VALORANT. Your role will combine technical proficiency with a strong sense of gameplay to ensure that we deliver the best possible experience to our players. By joining Core Game Features you will not only be able to contribute to general gameplay systems but also bring new features and modes to life. 

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with designers to support the design and the delivery of gameplay features with highly-varying functionalities and technical needs
• Build relationships and collaborate with other engineering teams
• Take ownership of live gameplay systems and engineer technical improvements
• Participate in software engineering best practices within the team, including design reviews, coding standards, code reviews, tools improvements and more
• Mentor and level up other engineers on the team

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of gameplay development experience in a C-style game engine (Unreal Engine, Unity, etc)
• Fluency in C++
• BS in Computer Science, or proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals
• Experience collaborating with teammates across multiple disciplines

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working on a multiplayer game
• Experience working in Unreal Engine
• Familiarity with game engine tools, workflows and content pipelines
• Experience with developing backend services is a plus
