The Senior Technical Consultant will join the Customer Success (Technical Operations) team, collaborating with software developers and architects to meet customer requirements. This hands-on role involves development and tool implementation, focusing on managing build systems, development environments, and creating automation scripts using languages like Python, Powershell, Ansible, and GitHub Action YAML. The consultant will also mentor team members, lead DevOps projects, and drive process improvements and automation opportunities. The role requires strong software development experience, particularly in DevOps, and excellent people skills to support and guide junior engineers.
Must have:
  • 4+ years of experience in Software Development with a focus on DevOps.
  • Experience managing and deploying applications in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience using and managing source code control systems, especially GitHub.
  • Ability to build CI/CD pipelines using Python, bash, Ansible, Groovy, and Powershell.
  • Experience in managing, configuring, and developing scripts within Jenkins and GitHub Actions CI.
  • Strong problem-solving and innovation abilities.
Good to have:
  • Experience within an enterprise development team.
  • In-depth understanding of source code management best practices.
  • Familiarity with static code analysis.
  • Ability to read and understand log files to identify issues.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior DevOps engineers and developers.

Job Details

Scope:

  • The Senior Technical Consultant (TechOps) will work in the Customer Success (Technical Operations) team alongside the software developers and software architects who build new applications or extensions to products to meet customer requirements.
  • The Senior Technical Consultant (TechOps) is a hands-on role covering development and tool implementation. They are responsible for managing the tools and systems used to build software, managing development environments and containers, as well as developing new automation.
  • A key part of the role is the creation of new scripts and pipelines using languages such as Python, Powershell, Ansible, GitHub Action YAML or bash.
  • In addition, they provide mentoring and support to other consultants in the team, coaching and supporting them by leveraging their experience.
  • The ideal candidate will combine strong experience in software development, with a focus on DevOps, and strong people skills. They should be able to lead DevOps projects, taking the initiative in recommending process improvements and new opportunities for automation. They should also be able to assist others in the team to find solutions or implement new processes.

Our current technical environment:

  • Development: Python, bash, Powershell, Git/GitHub, Groovy, Java, .NET
  • Automation: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Ansible, Helm
  • Cloud Architecture: MS Azure (AKS, Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, Azure AD and other resources)
  • Application Architecture: Scalable, Resilient, event driven, secure multi-tenant Microservices architecture
  • OS: Windows, Linux
  • Frameworks/Others: Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, Azure SQL), Codacy, CodeQL, REST API, OAuth, Zabbix

What you’ll do:

  • Manage, configure and develop scripts within Jenkins and GitHub Actions CI.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines using languages such as python, bash, ansible, groovy and powershell.
  • Build automation scripts to deploy services via REST APIs.
  • Manage, configure and deploy resources within Azure.
  • Manage git source code control and administer GitHub.
  • Support automated testing and test management tools and scripts.
  • Lead and project manage multiple DevOps projects implementing new automation for development teams.
  • Proactively identify, recommend, and implement development process improvements.
  • Coach and support more junior DevOps engineers and developers to understand development processes and build suitable automation scripts.

What we are looking for:

  • BE/B. Tech or equivalent with 4+ years of experience in Software Development with a focus on DevOps preferred.
  • Experience within an enterprise development team.
  • Experience managing and deploying applications in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience using, managing and installing source code control systems, especially GitHub. In-depth understanding of source code management best practices.
  • Familiarity with static code analysis.
  • Able to read and understand log files, identifying issues and potential causes for build failures.
  • Follows standard processes and procedures
  • Self-sufficient and able to manage own workload.
  • Takes ownership of project tasks and sees them through to completion.
  • Able to direct other team members to ensure successful completion of projects.
  • Able to independently research solutions to problems before seeking help from other team members
  • Proactively asks questions to understand a new process or system.
  • Confident to make suggestions and recommendations for improvements.
  • Effectively plans and prioritizes work
  • Proactively reports all activities to the reporting managers
  • Demonstrates problem solving and innovation ability.
  • Participates in company technical evaluations and coding challenges.
