Job Description

The Senior Technical Data Analyst is responsible for resolving issues for the data platform operations team, addressing JIRA tickets and proactively identifying data issues. This role involves monitoring data flows, developing ops policies, responding to incidents, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data reliability and quality, adhering to governance policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience with the Snowflake data platform.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data quality best practices.
  • Experience with automation via Python scripting.
Must Have:
  • Respond to data anomalies, alerts, and incoming requests from data platform users.
  • Build dashboards to monitor data flows and identify issues.
  • Develop and implement ops policies and procedures to maintain data reliability and quality.
  • Respond quickly to operational incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data management, data governance, engineering, business stakeholders).
  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Possess a data analyst background, including understanding table structures, data pipelines, data architecture, and code-level implementation.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Familiarity with Sigma Computing or similar dashboarding tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of data lakes, cloud storage solutions, and data processing tools (e.g., AWS, Azure, Hadoop).
  • 5+ years of experience in data operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.

General Summary:

The Senior Technical Data Analyst is responsible for resolving issues raised to the data platform operations team. This role involves working through JIRA issues created by data platform users and proactively identifying and resolving potential data issues on the platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to data anomalies, alerts and incoming requests from data platform users
  • Build dashboards to monitor data flows and identify issues
  • Develop and implement ops policies and procedures to maintain data reliability and quality.
  • Respond quickly to operational incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data management, data governance, engineering, and business stakeholders, to support data-driven initiatives and resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies and regulatory requirements related to data handling and storage.

Key Competencies

  • Data analyst background, including ability to understand table structures, data pipelines, data architecture and implementation at code level
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and business users to define requirements and resolve data issues.

Required education, certifications, and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field; relevant certifications are a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in data operations
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Familiarity with Sigma Computing or similar dashboarding tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data issues, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions
  • Strong understanding of data lakes, cloud storage solutions, and data processing tools (e.g., AWS, Azure, Hadoop).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with an international development team (e.g., internal remote offices or outsourcing partners)

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with the Snowflake data platform
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data quality best practices.
