Job Description

As a Senior Technical Project Specialist, you play an integral role in achieving remarkable results on complex, technical integration projects, delivered on time, to budget and that achieve the project objectives and business outcomes. You apply your technical expertise in ICT infrastructure, integrations and Telstra products with your exceptional project delivery skills to drive projects to their success. You have mastered the art of synthesising complex specifications and technical requirements into project plans and outcomes, and in doing so you directly shape the success of Telstra’s projects and therefore our business.
Must have:
  • Lead and Provide Expertise in Site Acquisition, environmental planning, property, and design management processes.
  • Advise on Telstra’s CMTS deployment activities, especially on contentious sites.
  • Serve as the escalation point for Telstra’s contractors and internal staff.
  • Manage interactions with landlords, government bodies, and third-party site providers.
  • Facilitate escalated property-related issues through Telstra’s Property Stakeholders and Legal Service Providers.
  • Collaborate with Telstra’s Compliance and Regulatory teams on state legislative changes.
  • Report on project deliverables, escalating unanticipated variations for approval.
  • Innovate and improve SAED standards and processes to enhance program delivery performance.
  • Update and guide NSW/ACT SAED team on process changes and improvements.
  • Ensure effective communication with stakeholders on project progress, risks, and issues.
  • Work with the team to identify process improvements and cost benefits.
  • Assist SAED Team Lead in developing staff, providing mentoring and training.
  • Contribute to the delivery of defined projects within prescribed parameters and budget.
  • Identify special conditions related to projects, such as environmental, technical, and HS&E.
  • Develop tools to track key program deliveries and report to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of property, environmental planning, civil design & construction methods, and the Mobile Network.
  • Proven experience in managing stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of Federal/State legislation and guidelines, including the Telecommunications Act 1997, Telecommunications (Low-impact Facilities) Determination 2018, the 2025 Mobile Phone Base Station Deployment Code, and State Environmental Planning Policy (Transport and Infrastructure) 2021 (TISEPP).
  • Strong oral and written communication, collaboration, and strategic problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in community consultation and dispute resolution.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and Provide Expertise: Offer subject matter expertise and leadership in Site Acquisition, environmental planning, property, and design management processes to the NSW/ACT SAED regional team.
  • Strategic Guidance: Advise on Telstra’s CMTS deployment activities, especially on contentious sites that could impact Telstra’s rollout program, brand, and reputation.
  • Escalation Point: Serve as the escalation point for Telstra’s contractors and internal staff facing challenging property and planning constraints.
  • External Interactions: Manage interactions with landlords, government bodies, and third-party site providers.
  • Property Matters: Facilitate escalated property-related issues through Telstra’s Property Stakeholders and Legal Service Providers.
  • Compliance and Regulation: Collaborate with Telstra’s Compliance and Regulatory teams on state legislative changes.
  • Project Reporting: Report on project deliverables, escalating unanticipated variations for approval.
  • Process Improvement: Innovate and improve SAED standards and processes to enhance program delivery performance.
  • Communication: Update and guide NSW/ACT SAED team on process changes and improvements.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Ensure effective communication with stakeholders on project progress, risks, and issues, and manage mitigation strategies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with the team to identify process improvements and cost benefits.
  • Staff Development: Assist SAED Team Lead in developing staff, providing mentoring and training in property and planning disciplines.
  • Project Participation: Contribute to the delivery of defined projects within prescribed parameters and budget.
  • Special Conditions: Identify special conditions related to projects, such as environmental, technical, and HS&E.

What you’ll bring
