2K Games is seeking a Senior User Experience Researcher in Montreal to lead research strategy and execution for various titles and franchises. This role involves close collaboration with game development studios to understand their needs and apply diverse research methods, including playtesting, usability testing, concept testing, telemetric analysis, and surveys. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UX research, a passion for video games, and a desire to create impactful player experiences through meaningful research.
Must have:
  • Partner with publishing and development teams to help build research roadmaps and tailor studies to meet the particular needs of each game team.
  • Establish research processes, plan for and implement studies that help drive the strategic vision throughout the product lifecycle and at moments of significant impact.
  • Clearly and concisely deliver findings on time and within budget to all relevant partners, including developers and publishing production teams.
  • Lead collaborative relationships with internal and external (vendor) partners.
  • Proactively develop creative solutions to address research goals and overcome roadblocks.
  • Develop a research schedule that provides data early enough for game teams to impact the gameplay experience.
Good to have:
  • BA/BS or equivalent in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental/Cognitive Psychology, Statistics, related field, or experience working as a UX Researcher in the games industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in User Experience Research.
  • Skill at applying statistical methods to analyze complex datasets and extract actionable insights.
  • Experience with survey (Alchemer/Qualtrics) and qualitative analysis tools.
  • Experience in the video games industry, especially AAA console/PC products and live service titles.
  • Proficiency with PC hardware and current-generation game consoles.
  • Practiced in building efficient team processes and mentorship.
  • Travel, both domestic and international, may be required.

The User Experience Research group at 2K employs an array of methodologies to give developers the feedback and tools to make better games. What We Need:

We are looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher for our Montreal location to drive the research strategy and execution for a range of titles and franchises. This involves partnering with game development studios to learn their needs and applying a wide assortment of research methods including playtesting, usability testing, concept testing, telemetric analysis, surveys and more. If you have knowledge of or interest in video games and want to drive impactful research that helps create great player experiences, then this position might be for you! We want someone who not only has a strong background in User Experience Research but who also thoroughly enjoys the process, the results, and the impact they can have on the games they support.

What You Will Do:

Who We Believe Would Be an Excellent Fit:

  • Proven track record conducting User Experience (UX) and Usability Research.
  • Deep understanding of mixed-research methods, frameworks and processes.
  • Knowledgeable about how to conduct research on interactive entertainment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in building and managing relationships with cross-functional partners.
  • Passion for video games and gaming.

Preference for Candidates with:

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental/Cognitive Psychology, Statistics, related field, or experience working as a UX Researcher in the games industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in User Experience Research.
