Job Description

The Service Operations Lead - Diesel is responsible for leading the delivery of class-leading support to aftermarket distributors, workshops, and end-users within all aspects of the diesel product and service range. This includes technical and product training, engineering product and repair support, and focusing on the development and management of the authorized repair program and network concept, as well as the creation and delivery of training and service strategy. This role involves responsibilities such as network development, training strategy, and service strategy management. The candidate should have a strong background in diesel fuel systems, including experience in mechanical engineering or manufacturing/production.

  • Familiarity with diesel testing equipment.
  • A background in mechanical engineering or manufacturing/production.
  • Strong communication skills.

Job purpose

Responsible for leading delivery of a class-leading support to aftermarket distributors, workshops, and end users within all aspects of diesel product and service range, ranging from technical and product training to engineering product and repair support.  Role focusses network on the development & management of the authorised repair program and network concept, and creation and delivery of training and service strategy

Key Responsibilities

Network Development

  • Deliver technical and product support to local markets related to diesel commercial sales and repair activity:
  • Outline local technical support structure for authorised network
  • Responsibility for network audit process and governance
  • Gap analysis - customer capability and repair gap analysis
  • VM Liaison - warranty and network product support
  • Support field service and calibration process for product and test equipment

Training strategy

  • Develop & execute training strategy for aftermarket customers and internal stakeholders in all aspects of Fuel Systems and product repair:
  • Develop new course material and update existing material
  • Develop online training material through an established system to complement practical and theoretical training
  • Train internal staff to deliver market training and technical support
  • Responsible for delivery of diesel-specific training in UK training school

Service strategy management

  • Develop criteria for authorised repair parts access and repair, including tooling matrix, network standards manual, and franchise access criteria by distribution type
  • Create technical articles and manuals to support the delivery of product information, new repair program launch, and product marketing including all-makes
  • Work closely with Hartridge, PHINIA’s aftermarket test equipment division, to align service strategy and maximize authorised network expansion
  • Provide technical support for warranty process and adjudication through the authorised diesel network
  • Management of the authorised network database

What we’re looking for

  • Good knowledge of fuel delivery systems – including a background in mechanical engineering and manufacturing/production. 
  • Familiarity with using diesel testing and automotive diagnostic equipment
  • Possess a logical problem-solving process
  • A history in diesel fuel systems repair and testing at workshop level / or an engineering background focused on fuel systems – including new and existing technology
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Accurate with meticulous attention to detail, organised and ability to work closely within a team and to schedules
  • Ability to multi-task and remain detail-oriented with sound time management and organization skills
  • Strong Microsoft office skills including outlook, word and excel;
  • Builds trust with key stakeholders and understand the customer perspective
