Job Description

As a Silicon Physical Design Engineer at Google, you'll be part of a team developing custom silicon solutions for direct-to-consumer products. Responsibilities include owning the synthesis to GDS implementation of complex physical partitions/subsystems, collaborating on Power Performance Areas (PPAs) improvements, and managing block-level physical implementation and Quality of Results (QoR) on critical sensor IPs. You'll work with cross-functional teams and contribute to the innovation behind products used by millions worldwide, shaping the next generation of hardware experiences. This requires expertise in physical design methodology, floor planning, PnR tools, and scripting languages like Tcl/Perl/Shell/Python.
Good To Have:
  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Verilog/SystemVerilog knowledge
  • Understanding of circuit design, device physics
  • Understanding of algorithms and data structures
Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 3+ years physical design experience
  • PnR tools & scripting (Tcl/Perl/Shell/Python)
  • Floor planning expertise
  • Deliver synthesis to GDS implementation
  • Collaborate on PPA improvements
  • Manage block-level physical implementation and QoR

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with physical design methodology and flow validation/development methodology.
  • Experience in floor planning and physical design tool automation with Place and Route (PnR) tools and scripting in Tcl/Perl/Shell/Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with an emphasis on computer architecture.
  • Knowledge of Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Understanding of circuit design, device physics and deep submicron technology.
  • Understanding of algorithms and data structures.
