As a Software Business Analyst, you'll work with a cross-functional team, representing customer needs and developing specifications for innovative IVD solutions. Responsibilities include analyzing feature requirements, developing specifications, collaborating with technical staff, reviewing documentation, assisting with product usability, and supporting testing. You'll also participate in Agile ceremonies, focus on continuous improvement, and contribute to product validation. This role requires a strong microbiology background and experience in a clinical lab environment, contributing to the development of life-saving diagnostic devices.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a microbiologist in a clinical lab.
  • Experience with bioMérieux VITEK 2 lab instruments.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience in an ISO/FDA regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with Lab Information Systems (LIS).
  • Experience creating lab-validation protocols.
  • Ability to gather customer requirements.

Job Description:
This Software Business Analyst position is well suited by someone with a microbiology and/or clinical background. As a member of a highly collaborative, cross-functional software-development team, the Software Business Analyst will represent customer needs to the software-development team, develop specifications, and help develop software for innovative IVD solutions that help hospitals determine the correct antibiotics to treat millions of infected patients each year.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with other business analysts, software developers, software testers, and microbiologists to analyze feature requirements and user stories to develop effective specifications and quality software
  • Work with technical staff to clarify requirements for new features, anomaly fixes, and automated tests
  • Review and improve legacy requirements documentation
  • Assist with product usability and associated studies
  • Assist with development and summary of key testing metrics
  • Assist with task estimation, backlog grooming, and planning of work
  • Support product-validation activities and field-related investigations
  • Support team retrospectives and other Agile ceremonies
  • Train on assigned procedures relevant to daily work
  • Focus on continuous improvement of daily processes and software quality

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related scientific discipline (e.g. Biology, Biomedical Engineering, etc.) or similar disciplines, and/or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years’ experience as a microbiologist working in a clinical lab environment
  • Significant experience in the use and operation of the bioMérieux VITEK 2 suite of lab instruments (VITEK 2 Compact, VITEK 2 XL) in a clinical environment using ID/AST concepts 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an ISO/FDA regulated environment as a member of a product-development organization (medical-device or biotech industry) preferred
  • Familiarity with Lab Information Systems (LIS) and instrument interfacing
  • Experience in creating and executing lab-validation protocols and performing instrument-validation testing
  • Demonstrated ability to gather customer requirements and create specifications for clinical software processes and/or products
