The Senior Financial Analyst will be a key member of the FP&A team, providing financial insights to support decision-making within the Commercial Operations team. Responsibilities include sales analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive financial performance and operational efficiency. The role supports the Industrial Microbiology business. The analyst will be responsible for reporting, ensuring accuracy, driving the budget and forecast process, building reports using data warehouse and BI tools, tracking KPIs and operational metrics, and preparing presentations. They will also analyze variances, build data models, collaborate with market analysts, and support various finance and operational teams. The analyst will also perform ad hoc analysis and special projects. They should be familiar with accounting concepts.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
  • Advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills.
  • Working CRM skills.
  • Experience with SAP or other enterprise management system.
  • Experience with BI tools (Tableau and Alteryx preferred).

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a critical role in the FP&A team, providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making within our Commercial Operations team. This role will focus on sales analysis, budgeting, forecasting, OPEX variance analysis, and business partnering with cross-functional teams to drive financial performance and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong analytical skills and experience with financial systems such as Tableau, SAP, SAP Analytics Cloud, and Salesforce CRM.

The position supports our Industrial Microbiology business which covers diverse markets within the pharmaceutical quality control and food safety and quality spaces.

  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMérieux
  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly reporting as defined by the business.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
  • Responsible for accurate financial reporting, including ensuring appropriate application of accounting and group procedures. 
  • Drive quarterly and annual sales budget and forecast process including quarterly Risks & Opportunities(R&O) process.
  • Leverages data warehouse and BI tools to build sustainable and validated reporting and models for distribution as well as creating ad-hoc reports as needed by the business.
  • Track organizational KPIs and operational metrics while managing cross-functional reporting and analytics.
  • Ability to convert data to understandable and explainable format including slide preparation for the business for both monthly reporting as well as quarterly business reviews with executive leadership
  • Understand and evaluate drivers behind variances to Budget/Forecast/prior period.
  • Build data models to track sales pipeline, historical trends, and sales performance metrics against sales plan with supporting detail (customer, product, geography, sales channel, ASP’s etc.), ensure team members understand how key metrics are calculated and communicate this understanding to the business.
  • Collaborates with market analysts to incorporate assumptions related to new product launches in overall sales forecast.
  • Support the Industry Commercial Operations leadership, Accounting, and Regional/Corporate FP&A teams.
  • Work with other finance and operational leaders to review processes and make recommendations for changes where necessary
  • Performs ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed.
  • Supports special projects in compliance within company policy and within the guidelines of bioMerieux
  • Familiar with accounting and controlling concepts such as cost accruals, GL account reconciliations, and performing journal entries to reclass costs as appropriate
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with minimum of 5 years’ experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience in the following area(s) are desired:

The estimated salary range for this role based in the Chicago, IL area is between $100,000 and $110,000 annually. This role is eligible to receive an annual bonus based on individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
