Job Description

The Software Development Engineer 3 automates and accelerates application testing, release, and deployment in runtime environments. This role requires a background in development, operations, and full-stack implementations, with experience in high-level programming for scripting. Responsibilities include providing continuous delivery solutions in cloud environments, utilizing cloud provider tools, and establishing CI practices with tools like Jenkins. The engineer will also use configuration management automation tools for continuous delivery systems, mentor junior team members, and provide on-call support for DevOps-developed platforms.
Must have:
  • Work with application developers to automate and accelerate testing, release, and deployment of applications.
  • Have a background in development, operations, and full-stack implementations.
  • Experience programming in a high-level language (Ruby, Python, Java, C#) to script installation, configuration, and provisioning.
  • Provide continuous delivery solutions in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with core suite of tools to manage different cloud providers.
  • Establish and employ Continuous Integration practices and tools (Jenkins or other CI tools).
  • Experience in configuration management automation tools (Puppet or similar) for continuous delivery systems.
  • Employ industry Continuous Delivery patterns and collaboratively work with other members.
  • Responsible for mentoring and teaching existing team members.
  • Clearly explain solutions to complex problems and lead junior resources.
  • Provide on-call support for platforms developed by DevOps.

Job Summary:

The Software Development Engineer 3 works with application developers to automate and accelerate the testing, release, and deployment of applications into a runtime environment quickly and reliably. They will have a background in development, operations, and full-stack implementations. They will also have experience programming in a high-level language such as Ruby, Python, Java, C# or other language to script installation, configuration, and provisioning. They will be providing continuous delivery solutions in a cloud environment and have experience with the core suite of tools used to manage different cloud providers. The Software Development Engineer 3 will establish and employ Continuous Integration practices and tools such as Jenkins or other CI tools. They will have experience in the use of configuration management automation tools such as Puppet (or other such tools) in creating continuous delivery systems. They employ industry Continuous Delivery patterns and collaboratively work with other members to achieve successful continuous delivery solutions. The Software Development Engineer 3 will be responsible for mentoring and teaching existing team members. As such, the ideal candidate must have experience clearly explaining solutions to complex problems and demonstrate the ability to lead and impart knowledge effectively to junior resources. On call Support for Platforms developed by DevOps.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • 4 + years of experience in DevOps.
  • Ability to clearly articulate design and implementation choices.
  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
  • Strong understanding of application development methodologies.
  • Adept at evaluating problems accurately and displaying sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with a broad portfolio of AWS infrastructure tools (EBS, S3, EC2, Elastic IP, Route 53, VPC) and experience with cloud infrastructure management and automation technologies (Ansible).
  • Scripting (shell, python, ruby) skills for monitoring and automation.
  • Experience with docker containers and Kubernetes is.
  • Experience optimizing applications, both stand-alone and in distributed systems to maximize performance.
  • Experience maintaining an infrastructure and ensuring stability while adding new features.
  • Experience in Monitoring Automation Tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Sensu etc.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools.
  • Knowledge on Infrastructure as a code like Terraform/CloudFormation is required.
  • Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders.
  • Experience in Setup and maintenance of CI tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab, Codeship, and CD tools such as Spinnaker, Argo, etc.
  • Experience in working on an Internal Developer Platform.
  • Experience in working on Typescript.
  • Working knowledge of GenAI and how to leverage related technologies into product development workstreams.
  • Familiarity with AI assisted coding tools.
  • Ability to manage the stress of a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet the in-person requirements of the team and/or business needs.
