Job Description

As a Full stack Software Engineer in eBay's Identity team, you will focus on developing and supporting Identity Services including Authentication, Authorization, Onboarding, User Management, Web Services Security, Device Fingerprinting, and Account Linking/Entity Resolution. Your work will involve implementing ID Federation protocols like OAuth and OpenId Connect. This role is crucial in maintaining the eBay platform, servicing hundreds of millions of users across both Desktop and Mobile. As a software engineer, you'll take part throughout the product development lifecycle while working closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Architectural teams.

  • Estimate efforts, plan implementations, and complete rollouts.
  • Participate in requirement/design meetings with PD/PM teams.
  • Champion standard methodologies within software development including the use of AI in code development and delivery.
  • Uphold engineering excellence in development.
  • Adhere to Definition Of Done (DoD) for quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in Java and Java EE with expertise in web services such as SOAP, REST, and HTTP/XML.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science with over 3+ of experience, or a master’s degree in computer science with 2+ years of hands-on experience in developing large-scale distributed systems.
  • Ability to define, design, and implement complex, scalable systems.
  • Expertise with testing frameworks and libraries such as Jest, Mocha for unit and playwright for integration, and end-to-end testing.

Your work will involve implementing ID Federation protocols like OAuth and OpenId Connect. This role is crucial in maintaining the eBay platform, servicing hundreds of millions of users across both Desktop and Mobile. As a software engineer, you'll take part throughout the product development lifecycle while working closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Architectural teams.

What you will accomplish:

  • Build and manage Authentication and security products.
  • Create high-performance, scalable real-time systems handling billions of transactions daily, ensuring 99.99% uptime.
  • Design layered applications with UI, business functionality, and database access.
  • Apply expertise in BE, FE, JS, CSS, RDBMS, NoSQL, Cloud computing, Search, Kafka, Machine Learning, and Information Retrieval.
  • Develop innovative solutions addressing market needs.
  • Estimate efforts, plan implementations, and complete rollouts.
  • Participate in requirement/design meetings with PD/PM teams.
  • Champion standard methodologies within software development including the use of AI in code development and delivery.
  • Uphold engineering excellence in development.
  • Adhere to Definition Of Done (DoD) for quality assurance.

What you will bring:

  • Proficiency in Java and Java EE with expertise in web services such as SOAP, REST, and HTTP/XML and strong understanding of data structures, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science with over 3+ of experience, or a master’s degree in computer science with 2+ years of hands-on experience in developing large-scale distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with Node.js, Scala, Oracle, MongoDB (or other NoSQL databases), REST, event sourcing, web sockets, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Ajax, Spring MVC, and JQuery is preferred.
  • Ability to define, design, and implement complex, scalable systems.
  • Expertise with testing frameworks and libraries such as Jest, Mocha for unit and playwright for integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$78,400 - $139,400

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
