Join eBay's Native Identity team within the Buyer Experience organization as a Senior Android Engineer. You will work on features enabling secure sign-in and registration for millions of users on the eBay Android application. This role involves collaborating with a world-class team to create new features on a highly visited e-commerce app, focusing on large-scale, challenging problems using agile methodologies. Must Have:
  • 7+ years of Android development experience, with deep expertise in Kotlin.
  • Proficiency in MVVM, Kotlin co-routines, flow, dependency injection, and RESTful web service integration.
  • Experience with cryptography, key store, TEE, and Play services Integrity API.
  • Skilled in Android Studio, network debugging, Git, unit testing, mocking, and Jira.
  • Familiarity with deep linking, app notifications, webviews, and various Android managers (preferences, passkey, biometric).
  • Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, multi-factor authentication, FIDO, FIDO2, and SSO.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Ability to ensure code quality, maintainability, and improve build/test systems.
  • Experience leading development, optimizing native apps, and ensuring security best practices.
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and drive adoption of technical patterns.

MTS2 - Senior Android Software Engineer

We are the Native Identity team in the Buyer Experience organization. The team is looking for a Senior Android developer to join a small team of engineers working on features that enable millions of users to securely sign-in and register on the Android application. You’ll be working with a world class team of engineers, designers, and product managers to create amazing new features on one of the world’s most visited e-commerce apps.

Join our team of engineers who enjoy working on large-scale, challenging, and interesting problems. We work in small, focused, collaborative project teams following an agile methodology.

Job Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience developing Android applications, with deep experience in Kotlin
  • Demonstrable proficiency in MVVM, Kotlin co-routines and multi-processing, flow, dependency injection, fragments, app linking, shared preferences and restful web service client architecture and integration. The ideal candidate will also have experience with cryptography including key store, TEE and play services Integrity API.
  • Proficient in Android Studio, network debugging (e.g. Charles Proxy), revision control systems (e.g. Git), unit testing and mocking, and bug tracking (e.g. Jira)
  • Experience with deep linking, app notifications, webviews, preferences manager, passkey manager, biometric manager, preferences manager, etc.
  • Familiarity with OAuth2, JWT, multi-factor authentication, FIDO, FIDO2 and SSO
  • Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architecture, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards and improving build and test systems
  • Participate in sprint meetings, code reviews, UI design reviews and other feature related meetings.
  • Evangelize, mentor, and promote mobile development standard methodologies throughout the company
  • Provide scope on proposed features and bug fixes. This includes estimation of effort, risk identification and mitigation, possible alternate solutions.
  • Prevent, detect, troubleshoot, mitigate, and resolve issues affecting customers as they arise using a variety of monitoring, alerting, and remote configuration tools.

  • Lead the development and optimization of Native apps, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Ensure security best practices are coordinated into our development and deployment processes.
  • Stay informed of new technologies, industry standards, and architectural standard methodologies.
  • Lead by example, giving high-quality code reviews, and encouraging a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and drive adoption of technical patterns that significantly improve engineering practices across the organization.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accept differences and disagreement to get things done and move forward.
  • Deeply care about growing others, great at mentoring and coaching.
  • Experience using AI tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$132,000 - $222,100

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
