Job Description

eBay is seeking a Senior Product Manager 2 - Technical in San Jose, CA. This role involves designing and driving data-driven product solution initiatives, managing technical development for the listing platform and selling APIs, and researching emerging technologies for platform modernization. The manager will analyze market nuances, identify search algorithmic improvements, translate product strategy into roadmaps, and facilitate data-driven decisions. Responsibilities also include communicating strategies to senior leaders and development teams, evaluating performance, and driving A/B testing to achieve organizational goals.
Must Have:
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field plus 4 years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of experience
  • Evaluate business opportunities to define and optimize the product portfolio
  • Experience with analysis of market position to create and expand the portfolio of products and solution alternatives
  • Use technical expertise and extensive industry experience to formulate product strategies and identify new product opportunities
  • Develop project plans designed to address customer needs and/or expand market share
  • Develop detailed technical project delivery plans including backend testing for production releases and hotfixes
  • Work closely with product development to create products and validate early product definitions with customers
  • Drive the product roadmap for backend software engineering
  • Manage projects across cross functional teams using project management techniques such as Agile and Scrum
  • Provide Metrics, Risks and Project Status to Senior Management

About the team and the role:

eBay, Inc. seeks Senior Product Manager 2 - Technical

What you will accomplish:

Design and drive data-drive, product solution initiatives with product managers, engineers, user researchers, designers, and analytics teams. Manage the technical development of features for the listing platform and selling APIs. Research emerging technologies to create innovative the modernization-related aspects of the platform including solutions to build new services (working with engineering) focusing on metrics like platform efficiency, scalability, API modernization, etc. Analyze market-specific nuances, and identify search algorithmic improvements to address unique search-specific needs. Translate product strategy into clear and concise specifications and development road map, make functional and user interface design tradeoffs, handle product launches, and lead product successes post-launch. Facilitate data-driven product decisions with a balance of near-term deliverables and longer-term investment in technology platforms. Communicate strategies and trade-offs to customer solutions with senior leaders and development teams. Periodically evaluate individual and team performance and ensure delivery of product solutions within project timelines. Drive A/B testing to identify launch candidates that improve organizational goals. Telecommuting permitted – work may be performed from anywhere in the US.

What you will bring:

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a closely related field plus four years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any field) or a closely related field plus six years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Evaluate business opportunities to define and optimize the product portfolio through analysis and understanding of targeted markets, market trends, new technology, customer business issues and the competitive environment (4 years);

2. Experience with analysis of market position to create and expand the portfolio of products and solution alternatives (4 years);

3. Use technical expertise and extensive industry experience to formulate product strategies and identify new product opportunities (4 years);

4. Develop project plans designed to address customer needs and/or expand market share (4 years);

5. Develop detailed technical project delivery plans including backend testing for production releases and hotfixes (4 years);

6. Work closely with product development to create products and validate early product definitions with customers (4 years);

7. Drive the product roadmap for backend software engineering (4 years);

Salary: $190,819.00-238,200.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
