Job Description

Apple is seeking a Senior iOS Engineer for the Retail Technology Engineering team. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying innovative digital experiences for Apple stores worldwide. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence technology roadmaps and deliver scalable solutions for tens of thousands of Apple devices across over 500 stores. Successful candidates are curious, creative, and tenacious, capable of leading effectively through ambiguity.
Good To Have:
  • Experience developing software with AI.
  • Experience with client- and server-side programming, and workflow orchestration (e.g., Temporal).
  • Experience integrating APIs using REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.
  • Experience implementing automated testing using Playwright, pytest, XCTest, Xcode automation.
Must Have:
  • Design, develop, implement, and deploy robust, high-performance iOS, macOS, and visionOS applications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers.
  • Provide ongoing triage, debugging, maintenance, and support for application reliability.
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers.
  • 7+ years of experience throughout the SDLC.
  • Expert knowledge of functional and object-oriented programming, Swift, Objective-C, and Apple OS frameworks.
  • Experience developing for Apple platforms (iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS).
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, EE or equivalent.

We’re seeking a talented iOS engineer to deliver innovative digital experiences for Apple stores worldwide. You’ll be collaborating with Apple Retail, Product Marketing, and various engineering organizations to influence technology roadmaps that pave the way for the future of retail. Successful candidates are humble, curious, creative, and tenacious; they are organized, think clearly, and can lead effectively through ambiguity.

Key Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience throughout the SDLC including system architecture, design, implementation, QA, CI/CD, reliability, maintenance and support
  • Expert knowledge of functional and object-oriented programming, with a focus on Swift, Objective-C, and Apple OS frameworks
  • Experience developing for Apple platforms (e.g., iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS) focusing on feature delivery, code sharing, shipping, and collaboration across multiple front-end environments
  • Bachelors degree in CS, EE or equivalent

Description

  • Design, develop, implement and deploy robust, scaleable, high-performance iOS, macOS, and visionOS applications, systems, and components that compellingly showcase our products and services within retail stores
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, product marketing, designers, content creators, and engineers to understand business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver exceptional user experiences
  • Provide ongoing triage, debugging, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support to ensure application reliability and stability across various OS, devices and environments, as well as smooth operations in retail stores
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing software with AI
  • Experience with client- and server-side programming, as well as workflow orchestration (e.g. Temporal)
  • Experience integrating APIs using technologies like REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.
  • Experience implementing automated testing using Playwright, pytest, XCTest, Xcode automation to validate software functionality and reliability

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
