Zoox is seeking a Software Engineer for their Metrics Tooling and Automation team. This role involves ensuring the safety of Zoox's hardware and software through simulation. You will be responsible for automating complex processes, architecting robust and efficient systems, and identifying system limitations. This position requires working with cross-functional teams and enabling critical metrics that influence company-level decisions for deploying driverless robots. Responsibilities include building and validating tools to assess simulation realism, developing agent models, synthesizing large-scale results into dashboards for stakeholders, and leading complex cross-functional projects.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of industry experience in data-driven algorithm and metrics development
  • Experience with shipping large scale automation workflows
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Fluency in production-level Python
  • Good cross-functional communication of complex subjects
Good to have:
  • Experience in Scala, Spark, and/or Databricks
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles

Job Details

Our team is working to ensure Zoox’s hardware and software are safe for operation in the real world through the use of simulation. As part of this process, the team is responsible for designing and running large numbers of simulations to ensure Zoox’s hardware and software operate as expected.

In this role, you will help us scale to meet future milestones by automating complex processes, architecting systems to be robust, efficient and cost-effective, steering design and implementation decisions, and helping the team identify future system-level limitations. You should expect to work with cross-functional partners across simulation, infrastructure,  planning and perception among others.

You will be responsible for enabling critical metrics that drive company-level decisions for the deployment of our driverless robots on public roads.

In this role you will:

    • Build, integrate, and validate tools to automate the assessment of simulation realism and event validity
    • Develop agent models cross-functionally with teams in SDMA and Simulation
    • Synthesize large scale results in dashboards for consumption by key stakeholders including AI developers and executives
    • Lead complex, cross-functional projects

Qualifications

    • 8+ years of industry experience in data-driven algorithm and metrics development that inform decision making
    • Experience with shipping large scale automation workflows
    • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
    • Fluency in production-level Python
    • Good cross-functional communications of complex subjects

Bonus Qualifications

    • Experience in Scala, Spark, and/or Databricks or similar tools

$210,000 - $289,000 a year
Base Salary Range


There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
