Job Description

The Senior Software Engineer engineers secure, scalable and reliable technology solutions, with minimal mentoring, to advance CMEG in the global marketplace and serve risk management needs of customers around the world.
Must have:
  • Design, develop, document, troubleshoot, and debug web applications.
  • Demonstrate skill in language proficiency.
  • Design UI components and screens for best user experience.
  • Write application modules and unit tests with minimal guidance.
  • Conduct system-wide testing and some integration testing.
  • Provide input for code reviews and help with deployments.
  • Review code to proactively identify and mitigate issues.
  • Work with business to define, refine, and finalize requirements.
  • Use design tools to share and communicate design ideas.
  • Use patterns frequently, contributing to best practice.
  • Embrace and enforce CME Group SDLC and info security standards.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent/better strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in JavaScript (ES6), HTML, CSS, JSON.
  • Experience with UI frameworks like React, Redux.
  • Experience building web application artifacts with Webpack.
  • Experience with web application communication using RESTful APIs.
  • Good experience contributing to technical approach & deliveries.
Good to have:
  • Experience in developing and automating solutions directly related to Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with fault tolerant, distributed, microservice architectures.
  • Experience using Confluence, JIRA, or other Atlassian tools.
  • Experience in working with remote teams, different time zones, and consultants.
  • Knowledgeable in web application security and mitigating vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with Java and Spring Framework.
  • Proficient with SCM and build tools Git and Maven

Job Details

The Senior Software Engineer engineers secure, scalable and reliable technology solutions, with minimal mentoring, to advance CMEG in the global marketplace and serve risk management needs of customers around the world.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Designs, develops, documents, troubleshoots and debugs web applications using modern technologies.
  • Demonstrates skill in language proficiency.
  • Designs UI components and screens to provide the best user experience.
  • Writes application modules and unit tests with minimal guidance.
  • Conducts system-wide testing and some integration testing.
  • Provides input for code reviews and helps with environment build deployments, release notes and notifications.
  • Reviews code to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues and defects and helps to identify sources of defects as well as troubleshoots various forms of code.
  • Work with business to define/refine/finalize requirements.
  • Uses design tools to frequently share and communicate design ideas.
  • Uses patterns frequently, contributing to best practice and process enhancements.
  • Embraces and enforces CME Group SDLC and information security standards.

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent/better strongly preferred, but substantial relevant experience could substitute.
  • Hands-on experience in JavaScript (ES6), HTML, CSS, JSON and related technologies.
  • Experience with UI frameworks and libraries including React, Redux (Redux-Form & Redux Saga).
  • Experience building and bundling web application artifacts with tools like Webpack.
  • Experience with web application communication using RESTful APIs.
  • Good experience with making significant contribution to both technical approach & deliveries.

Desirable Criteria:
