Job Description

As a Sr Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of storage and backup infrastructure, including incident support, root cause analysis, and system upgrades. You will collaborate with SREs, automate tasks, and support disaster recovery testing. This role involves developing and maintaining technical documentation. Must have:
  • Day to day management of storage and backup infrastructure.
  • Provide support for incidents being escalated from the Support Team.
  • Contribute to Root Cause Analysis of incidents and problems.
  • Plan and perform updates and upgrades to storage and backup infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with SREs and other teams to provide technical advice and guidance.
  • Assist in the automation of administrative and monitoring tasks.
  • Provide support for on-premise and cloud storage components of regular Disaster Recovery Testing.
  • Develop and maintain Technical Documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in NAS and Fibre Channel SAN based storage systems.
  • Experience of NetApp, Pure Storage and Cisco FC SANs.
  • Experience of Enterprise Backup Solutions for storage, VMs and physical servers, preferably Cohesity.
  • Knowledge of NFS, CIFS/SMB or Fibre Channel protocols.
  • Experience of Linux, Windows or VMware administration.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across the infrastructure stack (Storage, Network & Server O/S).
  • Understanding of storage and backup vendor hardware/software components and architecture.
  • Competent scripting skills for the automation of administrative tasks (Python, Powershell, bash).
Good to have:
  • Experience of implementing and supporting storage based data replication technologies.
  • Experience of working in a controlled environment with formal incident, change and problem management processes/procedures.
  • Experience in Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
  • Experience of Capacity Management and performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience in the use of capacity management toolsets (NetApp Data Infrastructure Insights, NetApp AIQUM, Visual One Intelligence).
  • Experience of cloud based storage solutions, preferably NetApp CVO in the Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD technologies (Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Argo, Bamboo).

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of the storage and backup infrastructure.
