Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer in PayPal’s Alternate Payments Method (APM) team, you will design and build robust products for PayPal’s APM, driving innovation in the alternate payments platform. You will participate in the full software development lifecycle, delivering an industry-leading product and directing its growth. This individual contributor role involves coordinating other engineers, determining technical tasks, improving processes, making technical decisions, and collaborating with management to set standards.

  • Experience working in payments or financial services industry is a plus
Must Have:
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in Java and related frameworks such as Spring Boot and Hibernate
  • Deep understanding of data structures, object-oriented design, and algorithms
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Proficiency in database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and in-memory databases
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Experience transforming ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans
  • Strong advocate of code craftsmanship, good coding standards and use of tools that will improve the quality of the delivered code

You will participate in all phases of our software development lifecycle from design, architecture and planning to development, testing, deployment, monitoring and beyond. You will be responsible in delivering an industry leading product and directing its next phase of growth. You will deep dive and implement robust solutions to complex problems. The prospective candidate will be an individual contributor working with various cross functional groups (business, product, analytics, engineering), coordinating the activities of other engineers, determining technical tasks, and improving existing structures and processes.
