This Staff Machine Learning Engineer role involves being an end-to-end custodian of AI/ML projects, developing solutions to generate business value, and leveraging massive amounts of data to create a platform for future products.
Must have:
  • Apply state-of-the-art NLP, ML, and statistical techniques
  • Develop predictive models and optimization algorithms
  • Utilize machine learning and large-scale data mining
  • Mentor junior Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists
  • Contribute to technical project direction, architecture, and requirements
  • Experience building and maintaining an MLOps platform

Job Description

Over the past 15 years our software has been at the core of commerce on the web for some of the world's biggest brands and retailers. The result is an absolutely massive amount of data, at scales comparable to the most high-traffic individual websites out there. It is critical to the future success of the company that we continue to find ways to leverage that data and turn it into valuable insights for our clients.

In the company, Machine Learning Engineers are the end-to-end custodians of AI/ML projects, involved through early discovery to production software delivery. This role will involve collaboration with multi-skilled product teams and beyond to develop AI/ML driven solutions that have the potential to generate business value for the company while delighting our customers.

We're looking for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our Machine Learning team. You'll work closely with a team of engineers to create a platform on top of that data that will be leveraged by virtually every other product and system we have built or will build in the future. You'll be responsible for experimenting to create new models to improve products and retraining existing models.

Primary Duties of the Role:

  • Apply (and extend) state-of-the-art natural language processing, machine learning, and statistical techniques to develop predictive models and optimization algorithms.
  • Use sophisticated analytical methods to automate existing processes and enable new capabilities.
  • Utilize machine learning and large-scale data mining techniques to discover and identify actionable patterns in the data.
  • Mentor more junior Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists.
  • Deep dive into the data to understand and apply patterns, while maintaining a sense of the big picture.
  • Work closely with engineers & product managers to put research results into action

Skills and Experience Necessary for the Role:

  • Proficient in contributing to technical project direction in a collaborative team environment.
  • Including but not limited to architecture, estimation and developing requirements.
  • Experience contributing to or leading open ended discoveries, with a proven ability to unearth high quality AI/ML opportunities for customers and/or product teams.
  • Experience building and maintaining an ‘MLOps’ platform to accelerate the development, deployment and maintenance of AI/ML models.
  • A track record of delivering ML-enabled products from idea to delivering value in production.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years experience in leveraging Data Science and AI/ML frameworks to ingest and prepare data to build AI/ML models.
  • 5+ Years experience analyzing data using SQL/Data Engineering.
  • 4+ Years experience with Python/Scala.
  • 3+ Years Experience developing products on Public cloud Hosting platforms (ex. AWS, GCP, etc)
