Disney Television Animation is seeking talented Storyboard Artists to join the team for an unannounced Disney Junior series. As a Storyboard Artist, you will be responsible for transforming scripts into visually compelling storyboards, bringing the show's style and vision to life. This includes creating storyboard panels from rough thumbnails to final versions, ensuring consistency with the show's style, pitching storyboards, receiving and addressing notes from the Director and Creative Supervisors, and collaborating with other creative department heads and production to ensure alignment with the vision for the project. Responsibilities also include time management to meet deadlines and following production workflow guidelines.
Good To Have:
  • Prior experience working on CG shows for preschool audiences
  • Experience in television animation production pipelines
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
Must Have:
  • 2+ years of storyboard experience
  • Proficiency in Cintiq, Toon Boom Storyboard Pro, and Photoshop
  • Ability to draw characters and environments in a specific show style
  • Strong portfolio showcasing staging, composition, cinematography, comedy, action, emotional storytelling, and character interactions
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines

About the Role & Team

Disney Television Animation is looking for Storyboard Artists to join an Unannounced Disney Junior Series! In this role, you will be responsible for transforming a script into a scene-by-scene visual story. From rough thumbnails through to final panels, your storyboard sequences will help bring the style and vision of the show to life.

What You Will Do

  • Create storyboards: from thumbnail/rough storyboard panels through delivery of finished storyboard sequences
  • Ensure that the vision and style of the show is consistently adhered to through execution of action, staging, dialogue and camera
  • Pitch storyboards, address notes from Director and Creative Supervisors, and revise as necessary
  • Collaborate with creative department heads and production to review goals and vision for the storyboards and discuss concerns, timelines and complexity, given the parameters of the schedule; Responsible for completing all deliverables on time and according to production schedule and within guidelines/show parameters such as number of scenes, complexity requirements, etc.
  • Ensure that storyboard includes all final dialogue, backgrounds, direction, camera moves and action by making drawing or text changes in description, dialogue or numbering
  • Submit work that appropriately aligns with production and workflow guidelines requirements (i.e., naming conventions and storage)
  • Additional duties as necessary, or as defined by individual contracts

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years storyboard experience and/or training on a similar show
  • Knowledge of software and hardware including Cintiq, Toon Boon Storyboard Pro, and Photoshop
  • Ability to align with the style and sensibility of show, including the ability to draw characters and environments on model within a particular show style
  • A portfolio that demonstrates staging, composition and cinematography skills, along with strong comedy, action, emotional storytelling, and character interactions
  • Ability to write clear and specific direction on storyboards
  • Consistent time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior knowledge and experience working in television animation production pipelines
  • Prior experience working on a CG show for a preschool audience

Education

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

The pay rate for this role in California is $61.12 to $65.49 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
