Job Description

The Strategy Director will ensure high-quality strategic work, translate data into insights and actionable recommendations for clients, and apply analytical rigor to solve brand and marketing issues. The role involves analyzing data, preparing viewpoints, demonstrating industry-leading thinking, driving strategic foresight, owning work streams, and leading the strategy team. This role requires extensive travel within the APAC region and will be working with senior client leaders on the development of their most important long term, strategic assets.

What you’ll do

Ensure the highest quality of strategic work and be directly involved in the quality of creative product. Take ownership in translating data and the world around you into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations for clients. Then apply analytical rigor, critical thinking and creativity to solve complex brand and marketing issues.

  • Review data, conduct analysis, uncover insights and prepare coherent and persuasive points of view and actionable recommendations for our clients.
  • Create lasting impact by demonstrating industry-leading thinking, an entrepreneurial spirit, and restless intellectual curiosity.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and solve complex problems by driving strategic foresight for our clients.
  • Own and lead work streams, understanding how they impact the overall project.
  • Lead and guide the wider strategy team to analyze and synthesize primary and secondary research to generate actionable insights for clients.

Based in Hong Kong, you will be required to travel extensively and often at short notice, in and around the region, including Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan –and elsewhere as required.

What you’ll need

  • Experience in brand strategy, brand naming, product and portfolio architecture, internal brand engagement, creative briefing, campaign messaging and design principles.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation skills, advocating solutions credibly and building trust with senior clients.
  • Experience in thought-leadership in the region to influence strategic decisions and build collaborative partnerships.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to deepen loyalty to our clients’ brands and drive growth.
  • Track record as a visionary leader who champions creativity as a core value and a strategic differentiator, and drives innovation and creative solutions with measurable impact within the group.
  • Experience in Hong Kong and APAC/ Global corporate brand strategy including conglomerates, professional services, financial sector or B2B clients.
  • Cultural sensitivity and flexibility: understanding that the diverse markets and clients across the APAC region require a tailoring of approach and a demonstrable understanding of what makes them different.
  • Experience in managing a team and providing them with insight across multiple projects from concept to final deliverable. Specifically, this position looks for an individual who will be able to offer direction and support to both senior and junior consultants in the team.
  • Solid understanding of how brands and businesses work, including the role of packaging, product/service innovation, sustainability, and ecommerce.
  • Open-mindedness with an inherent curiosity, and willingness to share fresh perspectives in solving problems.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels.
