Job Description

This role involves overall technical leadership for full systems product release and life cycle management, ensuring quality and compliance. Key responsibilities include translating user needs into product requirements, system decomposition, and leading technical and design reviews. The engineer will manage technological complexity in multi-disciplinary settings, contribute to innovation, and make independent design choices. The position requires in-depth understanding of CT products, imaging principles, and product creation processes, driving discussions with various stakeholders and negotiating technical tradeoffs.
Must have:
  • Overall technical leadership for full systems product release/life cycle management.
  • Translation of user and business needs into product requirements.
  • System decomposition and allocation of derived requirements down to HW/SW component level.
  • Leading technical & design reviews and determining feasibility of solutions.
  • System integration and verification coordination.
  • Managing technological complexity of products in multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Developing new products independently, often based on unverified specifications.
  • Making substantial contributions to product and process innovation.
  • Making independent choices regarding design aspects and justifying changes.
  • Formulating assignments in dialogue with customers or users.
  • Submitting ideas for future developments and providing input for Technology roadmaps.
  • Developing partly or wholly new product, process, or technology.
  • Eliciting, reviewing, and characterizing stakeholder feedback.
  • Creating and reviewing system-user interaction models using Systems Engineering methods/tools.
  • In-depth understanding of CT products and applications.
  • In-depth understanding of CT imaging principle.
  • In-depth understanding of product creation process and design methods (modelling, interface definition, MBSE).
  • Driving discussions with stakeholders from marketing, customer service, operations, etc.
  • Focusing on high complexity products or multidisciplinary subsystems (5+ year horizon).
  • Participating in design reviews and guiding development activities in projects.
  • Leading/Participating in innovation with internal partners and suppliers.
  • Negotiating technical aspects and tradeoffs.
  • Negotiating integral tradeoffs with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deep insight in engineering / research.
  • Prior experience as a lead design engineer.
  • Practical knowledge of medical device industry standards and regulations (FDA, IEC, ISO, CFDA, ACR, AAPM, COCIR, MITA, RoHS, WEEE).
  • Master or PhD or equivalent level in a technical profession.
  • At least 7 years of experience as a design engineer.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Diagnostic Imaging or Radiotherapy domain.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge and experience spanning multiple engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical, software and systems engineering).

Your role:

  • Overall technical leadership and responsible for realization of full systems product release/life cycle management to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Translation of user and business needs into product requirements.
  • System decomposition and allocation of derived requirements down to HW/SW component level and related traceability.
  • Trade-off of system design specifications and interfaces, determine feasibility of potential solutions, and leading technical & design reviews.
  • System integration and verification coordination.
  • Managing technological complexity of products in multi-disciplinary setting. Develops new products, independently and according to own judgement, using the latest technologies and resources, often realizing systems based on unverified specifications. Makes a substantial contribution to the innovation of product and processes.
  • Makes independent choices regarding aspects of the design. Gives reasons for changes in specifications.
  • Formulates assignments in dialogue with customer or user.
  • Submitting ideas for future developments and providing tangible input for Technology roadmaps.
  • Develops partly and sometimes wholly new product, process or technology.
  • Elicits, reviews, and characterizes stakeholder feedback; creates and reviews system-user interaction model with various Systems Engineering related Methods/tools.
  • Has an in-depth understanding of CT products and applications
  • Has an in-depth understanding of CT imaging principle
  • Has an in-depth understanding of the product creation process and design methods, such as modelling, interface definition, MBSE etc.
  • Drives discussions with stakeholders of other departments, such as marketing, customer service, operations, etc.
  • System complexity: Focuses on a high complexity product or a multidisciplinary subsystem consisting of multi components, time horizon of at least 5 years
  • Participates in design reviews and guides development activities in projects
  • Leads/Participate innovation with internal partners, mainly on peer level and mostly between technical disciplines and suppliers
  • Negotiations mainly on technical aspects and technical tradeoffs
  • Negotiates integral tradeoffs with multiple internal stakeholders and external parties (suppliers, partners).
  • Deep insight in engineering / research
  • Knowledge and experience spanning multiple engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical, software and systems engineering) is advantageous.
  • Prior experience as a lead design engineer
  • Evidence of practical knowledge of standards and regulations pertaining to the medical device industry, both domestic and international. This includes but is not limited to organizations such as FDA, IEC, ISO, CFDA, ACR, AAPM, COCIR, MITA and other directives such as RoHS and WEEE. Examples include: FDA 21CFR820.30, IEC 60601-1 and ISO 14971.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master or PhD or equivalent level in a technical profession
  • Experience as design engineer at least 7 year
  • Experience in Diagnostic Imaging or Radiotherapy domain at least 3 years

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills while communicating in both English and Chinese.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.

Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
