Job Description

As a Technical Level Artist (specialized in Unity) at Ubi MTL, you will play a key role in integrating assets and composing in-game environments. You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining automated pipelines for processing models and props – from the source to their integration into the engine (Unity). By collaborating closely with designers and artists, you will also contribute to the evolution of level editing tools (walls, object placement, etc.) to ensure smooth processes and immersive environments.
Must have:
  • Collaborate with level designers and programmers to develop and improve level editing tools.
  • Maintain and optimize automated asset pipelines, supporting smooth transfer of props and models.
  • Troubleshoot, refine, and adjust tools to meet team members' needs.
  • Create and support tools for VFX artists, including Shader Graph support and effect templates.
  • Design gameplay testing tools, such as solutions for managing "gym" scenes.
  • Provide support to artists on core level or "mega-textures" technologies.
  • Offer technical support in rendering, balancing and adapting asset parameters.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of HLSL for graphic rendering
  • Experience with Houdini pipelines

By collaborating closely with designers and artists, you will also contribute to the evolution of level editing tools (walls, object placement, etc.) to ensure smooth processes and immersive environments.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with level designers and programmers to develop and improve level editing tools (e.g., walls, props, level placement).
  • Maintain and optimize automated asset pipelines, supporting the smooth transfer of props and models from their source to the game.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, refine, and adjust tools to meet team members' needs.
  • Create and support tools for VFX artists, including Shader Graph support and effect templates, ensuring seamless and gameplay-sensitive integration.
  • Design gameplay testing tools, such as solutions for managing "gym" scenes and workflows for testing situations from defined starting points.
  • Provide support to artists on core level or "mega-textures" technologies, serving as a connection between artistic and technical needs.
  • Offer technical support in rendering, balancing and adapting asset parameters for optimal integration.

Qualifications

What you bring to the team

  • Expertise in the Unity engine and a history of participation in delivered projects, from development to publication.
  • Strong experience with level editing tools and automated asset pipelines, from their creation to in-game integration.
  • Technical scripting skills, especially in Python for tool creation and maintenance.
  • Assets: Knowledge of HLSL for graphic rendering and experience with Houdini pipelines.
  • Collaborative spirit and strong problem-solving skills, effectively connecting artistic and technical needs.
