The role involves collaborating with concept artists, level designers, scripters, VFX artists, and technical artists. Responsibilities include translating concept art into 3D assets with art direction, decorating levels to shipping quality, and optimizing assets for real-time rendering on modern hardware, while understanding performance constraints.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience

3D Environment Artist

With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games. As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for a 3D Environment Artist to join the team and help us in crafting the high caliber games our fans have come to expect.

Responsibilities
● Work together with people from a variety of teams such as concept artists, level designers, scripters, VFX artists and technical artists. 
● Translate concept art into 3D assets with Art direction in mind.
● Ability to decorate levels delivered from level designers to shipping quality. 
● Fundamental understanding of performance constraints and optimizing assets for real time rendered applications on modern hardware.

Requirements 
● 5+ years of previous relevant experience in a similar position
● Proficiency in 3D software such as: Maya, 3ds Max or Blender
● Experience in 3D sculpting software such as Zbrush.
● Proficiency in Texturing software such as Substance Painter for creating PBR correct textures. 
● Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
● Must be willing to work onsite in the Studio.
● A professional level of written and spoken English*.

Nice to haves: 
Experience working with photogrammetry. Scanning, processing and cleaning up.
Proficiency in following software: Marvelous designer, Speedtree, RealityCapture or Houdini Ability to develop procedural workflows. 
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or MEL script.
Traditional Art background, ability to conceptualize or portray ideas by painting or sketching them out.
Experience working with game editors for asset integration and level creation. We use our own proprietary Editor but knowledge of Unreal engine or unity will help. 
Strong Artistic and technical skills. Understanding of how composition, shape, scale, colors and lighting can help push environments forward.

À l'heure où le studio à l'origine de titres comme Baldur's Gate 3 et Divinity: Original Sin 2 se tourne vers de nouveaux projets, nous sommes en quête d'unartiste d’environnement 3D qui rejoindra l'équipe et nous aidera à créer les jeux d'excellence auxquels nos fans sont habitués.

Responsabilités
Travailler de concert avec diverses équipes, comme les artistes conceptuels, les concepteurs de niveaux, les scripteurs, les artistes d’effets visuels et les artistes  techniques.
● Transformer l’art conceptuel en ressources 3D, en considérant toujours la direction artistique.
● Décorer les niveaux créés par les concepteurs de niveaux avec des environnements de qualité livrable.
● Bien comprendre les restrictions liées aux performances, ainsi que l’optimisation de ressources graphiques en temps réel, dans des applications de rendu et sur du matériel récen.

Profil recherché 
5 ans ou plus d’expérience pertinente dans un poste similaire.
● Maîtrise de logiciels 3D comme Maya, 3ds Max ou Blender.
● Expérience avec l’utilisation de logiciel de sculpture 3D, comme Zbrush.
● Maîtrise de logiciels de texturation, comme Substance Painter, pour créer des textures PBR.
Capacité à travailler à temps plein sur place au studio de Québec.
● D’excellentes compétences de communication en anglais, à l'écrit comme à l'oral*.

Compétences appréciées 
● Expérience de travail avec la photogrammétrie. Numérisation, traitement et peaufinage.
● Maîtrise des logiciels suivants : Marvelous designer, Speedtree, RealityCaptureou Houdini.
● Capacité à développer des processus de travail procéduraux.
● La connaissance de langages de script, comme Python ou MEL.
● Parcours en arts traditionnels, capacité à conceptualiser ou illustrer des idées en peintures ou en esquisses.
● Expérience de travail avec des éditeurs de jeu pour l’intégration des ressources et la création de niveaux. Connaissance d’Unreal Engine ou de Unity (mais nous utilisons notre propre éditeur).
● Grandes compétences artistiques et techniques. Compréhension de l’importance de la composition, des formes, des proportions, des couleurs et de l’éclairage pour rehausser considérablement la qualité des environnements.
