Job Summary
Seniors Artists play a crucial role in the art team, handling complex art creation tasks and extending their responsibilities beyond creation. They assist with client specifications, create queries, perform initial artistic checks, and troubleshoot. This position is a stepping stone to higher roles like Art Lead and Specialist, involving work estimation and first-level review of peers' and juniors' work. Responsibilities include interpreting client briefs, assisting with effort estimation, contributing to pre-production, establishing asset creation workflows, and creating high-quality 3D assets.
Must Have
- Study and interpret client brief and specifications
- Assist in effort estimation for new work
- Contribute to pre-production work (collecting references, creating checklists, formulating client queries)
- Help establish clarity in asset creation workflow by creating sample assets
- Create high quality error free 3D assets as per client’s specifications
- Deliver files as per client specifications / best practices
- Undertake the creation of benchmark assets for a project
- Provide direction / guidance to artists on the team
- Do a first level check of their work to ensure adherence to artistic and technical requirements
- Help with troubleshooting on the project
- Actively participate in team meetings, provide ideas and suggestions, identify risks
- Regularly and clearly communicate status of their work to the Lead and the PM
- Ensure that the work is completed within the budgeted effort
- Excellent 3D environment creation skills
- High proficiency in Maya, Max, Photoshop, zBrush
- Hands-on experience with Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Blender
- Strong knowledge of Game Art pipeline, Realtime shaders, Unreal, Unity
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Self-starter
- Team player
- At least 5 years of experience in creating 3D art assets for AAA titles

About the Role:
Seniors Artists play a very important role in the art team. They often take on the most complex of art creation tasks on projects, and their role extends to beyond creation of art. They help with the study and interpretation of client specifications and requirements, create queries for the client, do first level artistic check of the work done by artists, troubleshooting etc.
The Senior Artist position is a key stepping stone to higher roles such as Art Lead and Specialist. The role therefore has not only art creation responsibilities, but it also has elements of responsibilities from higher roles – such as those related to work estimation or first level review of the work of peers and juniors.

Experience & Requirements
Skills
- Excellent 3D environment creation skills
- High degree of proficiency in the use of industry standard software like Maya, Max, Photoshop and zBrush
- Hands on experience working with software like Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Blender
- Strong knowledge of Game Art pipeline, Realtime shaders and engines like Unreal and Unity.
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills – verbal and written

Job Description:
- Study and interpret client brief and specifications to arrive at a clear understanding of work requirement
- Assist in effort estimation for new work
- Contribute to the pre-production work by collecting relevant references, creating checklists, formulating queries for clients etc.
- Help establish clarity in asset creation workflow for a project by creating the sample asset
- Create high quality error free 3D assets as per client’s specifications
- Deliver files as per client specifications / best practices with regard to file naming, folder structure etc.
- Undertake the creation of benchmark assets for a project
- Provide direction / guidance to artists on the team. If required, do a first level check of their work to ensure adherence to artistic and technical requirements
- Help with troubleshooting on the project
- Actively participate in team meetings. Provide ideas and suggestions that can contribute to project success. Identify risks and raise red flags accordingly
- Regularly and clearly communicate status of their work, and that of any artists in their charge, to the Lead and the PM
- Ensure that the work of self, and that of artists in their charge, is completed within the budgeted effort
