Job Summary
As a Texture Artist at Ubisoft Toronto, you will bring environments and game elements to life by creating and applying both tileable and unique textures that align with the project’s artistic vision. You’ll work closely with artists from different disciplines to ensure textures meet the highest quality standards and perform efficiently in-game. Responsibilities include applying artistic direction, collaborating with 3D modellers, producing PBR textures, optimizing texture reuse, generating object mapping, partnering with lighting artists, and identifying texture-related issues.
Must Have
- Create and apply tileable and unique textures
- Align textures with project’s artistic vision
- Collaborate with 3D modellers
- Produce normal, roughness, and albedo maps using PBR pipeline
- Optimize texture quantity and reuse
- Generate accurate object mapping
- Partner with lighting artists
- Check and improve texture quality in-game engine
- Identify and correct texture-related visual anomalies
- Contribute to pipeline improvements
- Proficiency in Substance Painter and Substance Designer
- Working knowledge of ZBrush, Adobe Photoshop, 3ds Max, Maya, Blender, Marmoset Toolbag
- Strong team collaboration skills
- Keen observation and attention to visual details
- Adaptability to changing priorities
- Ability to meet production deadlines

Job Description
As a Texture Artist at Ubisoft Toronto, you will bring environments and game elements to life by creating and applying both tileable and unique textures that align with the project’s artistic vision. You’ll work closely with artists from different disciplines to ensure textures meet the highest quality standards and perform efficiently in-game.
What you’ll do
- Apply the project’s artistic direction when creating textures for environments and objects
- Collaborate with 3D modellers to understand shapes, materials, and visual context
- Produce textures such as normal maps, roughness maps, and albedo maps within a Physically Based Rendering (PBR) pipeline
- Optimize the quantity and reuse of textures to balance quality and performance
- Generate accurate object mapping for assigned assets
- Partner with lighting artists to adapt textures to different visual and technical needs
- Check texture quality in the game engine and make improvements where needed
- Identify and correct texture-related issues to eliminate visual anomalies
- Contribute to ongoing pipeline improvements and best practices
