Job Summary
Climax Studios is seeking a UK-based Junior Environment Artist for their Edinburgh studio. The role involves creating optimized props, AAA PBR materials, and textures using Substance, contributing to innovative artistic visuals for games. Candidates should have solid experience in realistic prop and material creation, strong modeling skills, and proficiency in Maya, Substance, and Blender, along with an an artistic education and a strong portfolio.
Must Have
- Create optimized props, collision and LOD's to aid performance
- Create AAA PBR materials and textures using Substance
- Critique and iterate in a group
- Follow and recreate established art styles
- Reliably demonstrate an aptitude for the platform technology, asset discipline and pipeline processes
- Solid experience creating realistic style props, substance material and texture creation
- Creative and self motivated
- Strong and versatile modelling skills
- Experience using Maya
- Experience using Substance
- Experience using Blender
- Extremely quality oriented
- Some experience setting up LOD's
- Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills
- An artistic education to at least graduate level
- Strong folio including examples of realistic modelling and environment
Good to Have
- Environment landscape creation and set dressing
- Foliage model and texture creation
- Technical Prowess with real-time shader creation
- Good Environment lighting skills
- A keen eye for scene composition
- Successfully worked with iterative development and rapid game play prototyping
- Console development experience

We are looking for an multi-talented UK based Junior Environment Artist with the ability to conceive, create and contribute to the team creating innovative experiences via artistic visuals. Proven experience in generating a diverse range of styles, technical expertise with current gen’ technology and / or illustration skills are certainly of benefit.
