Squeeze is looking for an experienced texture and shading artist responsible for designing textures for 3D characters and assets. This person will interpret 2D references and apply them to 3D models, respecting technical constraints and artistic vision. The role involves creating textures and shaders, collaborating with artistic and CG supervisors, ensuring realism, and optimizing visual quality. It's a short-term contract, open to onsite, hybrid, or remote work within Quebec, Canada. The candidate must have the right to work in Canada.

Must Have

  • College degree in 2D/3D animation
  • At least 5 years of experience as a texture and shading artist in animation film/TV series production or visual effects
  • Excellent proficiency in Maya, Mari or Substance and Redshift (or common software such as Arnold)

Job Description

YOUR MANDATE

Squeeze is looking for an experienced texture and shading artist. This person will be responsible for designing textures for 3D characters and assets. They will need to interpret 2D references and apply them to 3D models, while respecting the technical constraints and artistic vision established for the project.

The workplace is at the person's choice (on-site, hybrid or remote from the province of Quebec). The person must have the right to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident or holder of an open work permit).

This is a short contract starting as soon as possible for a few weeks (dates to be confirmed).

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create textures and shaders for sets, props and characters;
  • Collaborate with the artistic director, Supervisor and CG supervisor to determine the appearance of the project's 3D models (accessories or characters);
  • Achieve a degree of realism adapted to the artistic direction of the project;
  • Execute corrections requested by the artistic director and the director, demonstrating analytical skills;
  • Bring creative ideas and solutions to optimize the level of visual and technical quality;
  • Ability to create textures without any basic elements or by using photographs, references or any other image source;
  • Develop looks to ensure that assets can be properly lit and are technically satisfactory to aid in the creation of "passes";
  • Develop the surface quality of assets to bring it to a higher level;
  • Work with the lead to determine the best possible techniques and creative approaches.
