Job Summary

Squeeze is looking for an experienced visual effects (FX) artist. The artist will generate FX animations, procedural simulations, dynamic simulations, particle and fluid systems for the visual effects of a video game cinematic. They are responsible for moderate-level lighting, rendering, and compositing of complex shots under the guidance of their supervisor. This is a short contract position starting as soon as possible until the end of January 2026, with a possibility of extension.

Must Have

  • Design and create FX animations, procedural simulations, dynamic simulations, particle and fluid systems
  • Set up heavy particle shots
  • Write/modify procedural surface shaders and volumetric shaders
  • Animate objects moderately
  • Create quality effects using Houdini
  • Relevant training in 3D animation and image synthesis
  • Minimum 5 years of FX experience
  • Strong compositing skills and practical knowledge of Nuke
  • Solid experience in visual FX for animated films or VFX
  • Good command of Houdini, Maya, and Nuke software
  • Artistic sense
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills

Good to Have

  • Ability to script the pipeline
  • Experience with Redshift rendering engine

Job Description

Your mandate

Squeeze is looking for an experienced visual effects (FX) artist. The artist will generate FX animations, procedural simulations, dynamic simulations, particle and fluid systems for the visual effects of a video game cinematic. They are responsible for moderate-level lighting, rendering, and compositing of complex shots under the guidance of their supervisor.

The workplace is at the person's choice (on-site, hybrid, or remote from the province of Quebec). The person must have the right to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of an open work permit).

This is a short contract starting as soon as possible until the end of January 2026 (with possibility of extension until February 2026).

Your main responsibilities

  • Design and create FX animations, procedural simulations, dynamic simulations, particle and fluid systems;
  • Set up heavy particle shots;
  • Write/modify procedural surface shaders and volumetric shaders;
  • Animate objects moderately;
  • Create quality effects using Houdini;
  • Any other related tasks.

  • An artistic sense;
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to script the pipeline, an asset;
  • Experience with the Redshift rendering engine, an asset.
