Senior Compositors

Wētā FX is seeking highly motivated Senior Compositors to join their skilled team for projects starting in 2026. The role involves seamlessly integrating photographic and computer-generated image layers, combining VFX elements with live-action footage, and maintaining aesthetic consistency. Candidates should possess strong artistic sensibilities, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in Nuke. On-site presence in Wellington, New Zealand, or Melbourne, Australia is preferred, with remote arrangements considered. The company values diversity and a collaborative, quality-driven environment.

Must Have

• Bring together multiple image layers into seamless, cohesive visuals
• Integrate VFX elements with live-action footage
• Maintain aesthetic consistency across shots
• Refine work based on feedback from Compositing and VFX Supervisors
• Strong artistic sensibilities and ability to interpret feedback effectively
• Proven problem-solving skills and proactive approach to challenges
• Excellent shot management capabilities and awareness of deadlines
• Proficiency in Nuke’s Gizmos and Groups workflows
• Ability to create clean, efficient, and well-structured scripts
• Solid understanding of cinematography, photography, colour science, and compositing best practices
• At least 5 years of experience as a compositor on feature films

Location: We encourage candidates to join us on-site at one of our hubs in Wellington, New Zealand, or Melbourne, Australia. While on-site presence is preferred, remote arrangements may be considered with prior approval.

In this role, you will bring together multiple image layers—photographic and computer-generated—into seamless, cohesive visuals. You’ll be responsible for integrating VFX elements with live-action footage, maintaining aesthetic consistency across your shots, and refining your work based on feedback from the Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisor.
