Job Summary
Rogue Factor is seeking a Senior Environment Concept Artist for a full-time, fixed-term contract to define and enrich the visual universe of their game. The role involves translating artistic intentions into strong, evocative, and inspiring images, collaborating closely with art direction, design, and production. The artist will play a key role in building the project's visual identity by shaping characters, environments, and atmospheres that will mark the player's experience.
Must Have
- Collaborate with art direction to clarify visual vision, explore ideas, and propose stylistic orientations.
- Create high-quality concepts for environments, accessories, mood shots, and key arts.
- Develop visual explorations: quick sketches, color research, compositions, lighting.
- Provide detailed and usable concepts that will directly serve as a basis for modeling, texturing, and animation teams.
- Propose moodboards and reference research to enrich the universe and fuel artistic reflection.
- Ensure stylistic consistency of content, providing clear and precise visual indications to production teams.
- Mentor junior artists by sharing best practices, visual approaches, and methodology.
- Participate in creative and technical discussions to evolve artistic direction, considering gameplay and production constraints.
- Background in visual arts, design, illustration, animation, or equivalent.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in the video game or entertainment industry, including participation in delivering one or more games.
- Excellent mastery of drawing, composition, color, light, and visual storytelling.
- Proficiency with digital painting tools (Photoshop, Procreate, Krita) and ideally hybrid 2D/3D workflow (Blender, ZBrush).
- Ability to adapt to different artistic styles, from stylized to realistic.
- Recognized for creativity, attention to detail, autonomy, and ability to bring complex ideas to life.
- Fluent in French, both orally and in writing.
Good to Have
- Experience in art direction or team mentorship.
- Experience with Unreal Engine or an equivalent engine for concept previsualization or integration.
- Mastery of 3D workflows to accelerate concept production (kitbash, rapid lighting, paintover).
- Interest in photography, cinema, narrative composition, or advanced visual research.
- Comfortable with management tools (Jira) and version control systems (Git, Perforce).

We are Rogue Factor, a medium-sized video game development studio based in Montreal. Our team has just launched Hell is Us_, an ambitious and innovative IP, developed under Unreal Engine 5 with the support of our parent company, Nacon.

We are looking for a Senior Concept Artist specializing in Environment for a full-time, fixed-term contract, whose mandate will be to define and enrich the visual universe of our game.
Your mission is to translate artistic intentions into strong, evocative, and inspiring images, while collaborating closely with art direction, design, and production.
Thanks to your mature vision and developed narrative sense, you play a key role in building the project's visual identity, giving form to the characters, environments, and atmospheres that will mark the player's experience.
##### YOUR WORKDAY
- You start your day by collaborating with the art direction to clarify the visual vision, explore ideas, and propose stylistic orientations.
- You create high-quality concepts for environments, accessories, mood shots, and key arts.
- You develop visual explorations: quick sketches, color research, compositions, lighting.
- You provide detailed and usable concepts that will directly serve as a basis for the modeling, texturing, and animation teams.
- You propose moodboards and reference research to enrich the universe and fuel the project's artistic reflection.
- You ensure the stylistic consistency of the content, making sure that the production teams have clear and precise visual indications.
- You support more junior artists by sharing your best practices, visual approaches, and methodology.
- You take part in creative and technical discussions to evolve the artistic direction, while keeping in mind gameplay and production constraints.
#####  YOUR PROFILE
- You have a background in visual arts, design, illustration, animation, or an equivalent path.
- You combine 7+ years of relevant experience in the video game or entertainment industry, ideally including participation in the delivery of one or more games.
- You possess excellent mastery of drawing, composition, color, light, and visual storytelling.
- You are comfortable with digital painting tools (Photoshop, Procreate, Krita, etc.) and ideally with a hybrid 2D/3D workflow (Blender, ZBrush, etc.).
- You are able to adapt to different artistic styles, from stylized to realistic.
- You are recognized for your creativity, attention to detail, autonomy, and ability to bring complex ideas to life.
- You express yourself easily in French, both orally and in writing.
