Chief Designer - Exterior Concept & Vehicle Architecture

Technicon Design is seeking a highly experienced Chief Designer to lead exterior concept development and vehicle architecture integration. This contract role in Gothenburg, Sweden, involves strengthening early-phase and production design capabilities, ensuring alignment between creative intent, engineering feasibility, and global program requirements. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment, collaborating with teams in Sweden and China to shape the next generation of vehicles.

Must Have

• Lead exterior ideation and early-phase design for advanced and production programs.
• Develop strong proportions, form language, and conceptual directions aligned with client identity.
• Align design intent with technical constraints, supporting package development and feasibility assessments.
• Provide on-site leadership at Gothenburg Design Studio.
• Frequent travel to China for design reviews, workshops, and executive presentations.
• 20+ years in automotive design, including exterior design and vehicle architecture.
• Strong international background with OEMs or advanced design studios.
• Deep understanding of vehicle packaging, BIW structures, aerodynamics, ergonomics, and EV platforms.
• Excellent communication in English.
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Alias, Blender, V-Red.

Good to Have

• Mandarin language skills.

What We’re Looking For

✔ 20+ years in automotive design, including exterior design and vehicle architecture.

✔ Strong international background with OEMs or advanced design studios.

✔ Deep understanding of vehicle packaging, BIW structures, aerodynamics, ergonomics, and EV platforms.

✔ Excellent communication in English; Mandarin is a plus.

✔ Ability to mentor designers and adapt to Swedish and Chinese business cultures.
