The Speech and Vision Accessibility team at Apple is seeking a Software Engineer to develop tools and technologies that empower individuals who are blind or have low vision. This role focuses on speech synthesis and speech-driven features like Speak Screen and VoiceOver, aiming to make Apple technology more accessible. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating impactful accessible experiences, eager to learn, innovate, and contribute to a team dedicated to universal empowerment through technology.
Must have:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
  • Experience with at least one of the following languages and related development tools: ObjectiveC, Swift, C++, or C
  • Ability to create, understand and maintain Object-Oriented software designs
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
Good to have:
  • Ability to learn quickly and grapple with complex, critical code
  • Upbeat, adaptable, and results-oriented attitude
  • Aptitude for independently learning new new technologies
  • Passion for quality and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Apple Accessibility APIs and/or Accessibility technologies
  • Familiarity with audio-related software development
  • Experience in developing safe and efficient multithreaded software systems

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
